It is evident that earth surface is covered with 71 percent of water; still surface water is inadequate to meet our demand, since only 3 percent of water is considered to be fit for human consumption. Out of which less than 0.3 percent of water is available as surface water, and we have to depend on ground water for our various needs. Because of rapid growth and urbanization, percolation of rain water into the subsoil has decreased drastically and recharging of ground water has decreased which results into urban flooding and scarcity of ground water. Water smart house design provides an alternate to the traditional conveyance approach towards rainwater management. The paper focus on reuse of water as a measure to decrease the dependency on ground water, at the same time comparison of foregoing water saving practice with advance planning strategy, and the new water usage scheme will be amalgamated. The proposed strategy will help in reducing dependency on ground water, replenishing water table, and will aid in resolving problem of water scarcity. The argument selected will help in bringing social awareness along with the proposed solution to overcome water shortage.

In this process of expansion few rural lands and fields will be taken for the purpose of development. This act has a major impact on the production of the most basic necessity of a human, 'Food'. In present context, both rural and urban lands were in sufficient numbers with respect to each other. With the increase in population and declination of cultivation lands, there is a need for balance. A new idea which can help in attaining the balance has been proposed and implemented, referred as 'Urban Farming'. Currently 'Urban Farming' is not a popular trend in the fields of urban planning or architecture. This is the main purpose of this study, which is to bring awareness to people about the concepts of 'Urban Farming'. This paper highlights the importance, practicability and implementation of urban farming as solution to food scarcity. Case examples from around the globe that can be concluded in an Indian context, have been referred to for a better understanding.

Empirical statistics exhibits 28 percent gradual increase of population in year 2001 to 32.37 percent in 2014. The mega cities in Indian are among the most dynamic regions on the planet due to exponential growth of population. Comparative analysis of last five decades says, the growth of population of India (today 1.3 billion) has grown two and a half times, but the urban population has grown nearly five time Land is a fixed resource. To met the prolific demand of increasing population in urban area the public open spaces are curtailed down. Due to urbanization road and street network are developed rapidly, only left over spaces are designated as open space vehicles and reserved for specific segment people, instead of considering it as common pool resource for everyone. Street's primary use has converted as parking area or encroached by vendors. No consideration bicycles. Fast living lifestyle eventually leads to hypertension and stress where as lack of recreational opportunities within easily accessible distances contributes to it. The methodology includes detailed study of urbaniza Indian street to identify the reason for decreasing public open space. Since streets are the only continuous open area available in cities feasibility of converting street as an alternative open space is justified with relevant characteristics of streets which can play better role as public open space into street, case studies have been done. Analysis says, that planned streets of new cities have defined segregation of land use making road and streets as barren: no eyes on street. Absence of activity between two nodes makes street unsafe, discourage the pedestrian movement and encourages vehicular movement. To formulate set of function and activities that makes a street as better public place and a better living place, study of Manek chowk of old Ahmedabad city is done which indicates, multi functionality of streets and adjoining land uses results into vibrant streets, better cultural interaction, better commercial viability, a safe street and ultimately a livable public place.

The concept is to maintain thermal comfort in the building. Adaptation of such technique is not new in India; many historical buildings are example of the same. The case taken into consideration is a heritage building-Gohar Mahal at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. The Gohar Mahal was built by the first women ruler of Bhopal-Gohar Begum in 1820. The paper discuss about the analysis of passive solar technique adopted in Gohar Mahal. The argument focus on effect of solar orientation, the use of thermal mass, proper ventilation and appropriate placement of window in the built envelope and its microclimate to achieve thermal comfort for the user. The Gohar Mahal is an appropriate example to explain effective utilization of site and intelligent planning for adverse climatic condition to decrease down the dependency on mechanical means. The analysis will help in catering the demand of sustainable building, which can be a measure to overcome the dependency on mechanical systems.

Reflecting upon these decisions, the architects and designers have come to the point of considering the use solar energy in providing the optimum living conditions. The notion of this use is not new as our ancestors used to design with nature. It is well known fact that the earth receives a vast amount of solar energy every single day. Even a small amount of use of this solar energy can lead to huge differences in the energy demand. Also 25-35% can be reduced in heating component by making fundamental construction improvements. All this leads to the passive solar building design. The aim is to promote the design and construction of energy-efficient, passive solar buildings. The outline of this paper is to provide basic understanding about the passive solar design with possible technical advancements in the field. The technical advancements account both for basic design principles and computerized calculative methods. The essay will also focus on the recent use of the passive systems in the current practices.

This is owing in large part to the work's methodological issues: day treatment placements are not balanced, and children enter and exit as needed. However, research on primary school students suggests that day treatment can help students return to and stay in private schools. In the case of private elementary schools in Kerala, India, this study examines the importance of non-classroom spaces in elementary school buildings where informal interactions among children occur. Students' preferred non-classroom places during their spare time are significant because they promote peer connections, which may contribute to informal learning processes. The space and recreation preferences of elementary school students were explored in their free time by emphasizing nonclassroom sections of school buildings. According to the data, children prefer to communicate with their classmates during their intervals regardless of school differences. The research focuses on finding the sustainable factors that might help students physically and mentally. Also, various design elements that contribute towards this are taken into factor.
