--ignore-files in .streerc not respected

I'm trying to set up syntax_tree and have the following in my .streerc, but running stree write '**/*.rb' still formats the files in _build

--ignore-files='_build/**/*.rb'

Passing this option directly to stree write works

My team has been experiencing this issue recently as well when using VSCODE with stree and format on save. Just under 2 years ago this feature was working but in the last 2 months or so we have experienced this. If anyone has discovered any reasoning we would appreciate insight.
