Rhian Meara
Currently working as a Lecturer at Swansea University where I am responsible for delivering the Welsh-medium courses within the Geography Department.
Previous research activities have focused on Icelandic volcanism and tephrochronology.
I completed my undergraduate degree at Leicester University. My PhD at Edinburgh University focused onto the geochemical fingerprinting of Holoece Icelandic silicic tephra layers . Following my PhD I worked as a PDRA at Swansea University studing micro-tephra layers in the GRIP ice core as part of a NERC funded project. Prior to my current role at Swansea University as a Lecturer, I worked at Glasgow University as a University Teacher and was the course co-ordinator for all L1 Earth Sciences modules.
I am a fluent Welsh speaker, have learnt Icelandic for field work and am learning BSL.
