David Mitchell
David Mitchell is a scholar, researcher, and filmmaker whose work focuses on disability theory, history, culture, film and literature. He is co-editor of "The Body and Physical Difference: Discourses of Disability" (U of Michigan P, 2007), "The Encyclopedia of Disability" Volumen 4 (Sage P, 2005), and "The Matter of Disability" (co-edited with Sharon L. Snyder and Susan Antebi). His primary works co-written with Sharon L. Snyder include: "Narrative Prosthesis: Disability and the Dependencies of Discourse" (U of Michigan P, 2000); "Cultural Locations of Disability" (U of Chicago P, 2006); and "The Biopolitics of Disability: Neoliberalism, Ablenationalism, and Peripheral Embodiment" (U of Michigan P, 2015). As a filmmaker he has also co-created 4 award-winning films including: "Vital Signs: Crip Culture Talks Back" (1995); "A World Without Bodies" (2002), "Self Preservation: The Art of Riva Lehrer" (2005);and "Disability Takes on the Arts" (2006). He is currently working on a feature length documentary film about Nazi T4 and Memorialization.
