I rely on the recent literature about the feminist interventions in higher education in addition to giving an account of the grass-roots digital storytelling movement around the world and its feminism oriented journey in Turkey. Focusing on the digital stories told at the pre-conference digital storytelling workshop in EMU (Eastern Mediterranean University) immediately before the 5th International Conference on Gender Studies in March 2015, the aim of that digital storytelling workshop was not only to facilitate the creation of digital stories told by feminist academics but also to carry these digital stories into the program of the conference in a special session that hosted both the screening of these digital stories and an open discussion about our neoliberal concerns in academia and everyday life. This article also provides an account of the main discussions and attempts to suggest the digital storytelling workshop as a tool for broadening the interactions between academic and activist feminisms

In-depth interviews were held with five middle class couples living in Ankara in their own kitchens. Carrying out the interviews in the couples’ own kitchens gave us the opportunity to observe their relationship to the kitchen as well as their behaviours in the kitchen. At the end of this study, it is likely to point to the change in the meaning and state of the kitchen in addition to which we talk about the shift in the meaning from preparation of food as part of biological necessity to emphasis on life style with the entrance of men into the kitchen. Women are not always happy about men’s ownership of the kitchen on the other hand

Methods This cross sectional, paper based questionnaire survey was carried out in 39 public hospitals and 21 general practice clinics within seven geographical areas of Turkey. Patients in the waiting rooms with an appointment on that particular day were included. Results 2770 women (47.1%) and 3112 men (52.9%) participated in the survey. The overall T&CM use was 60.5%. Women's frequency of T&CM use was higher than men (P = 0.001). Strong gender component of T&CM use needs further quantitative research taking cultural aspects into consideration. 59.4% of the participants who used T&CM reported that it was recommended to them by others and only 54.3% shared information about their use of T&CM with their physicians. Leech therapy and cupping prevalence was higher in Turkey compared to other countries possibly due to religious and cultural beliefs. Conclusion The frequency of T&CM use is high which was a reflection of belief based therapeutic approaches in other words, there is a divide between traditional medicine and complementary and alternative medicine in Turkey, which needs to be separately evaluated.
