Multiple epoch point source positions from 2MASS and the PMM program's digitized POSS database have determined proper motions for ~ 280,000 stars in the Praesepe field, covering over 100 square degrees, resulting in a total of ~ 1000 candidate members down to 0.1 Msun. We will discuss the observed dynamical properties of the cluster, including the radial dependence of the mass function and halo structure, and compare them with results from recent open cluster N body simulations. This presentation makes use of data products from the Two Micron All Sky Survey, which is a joint project of the University of Massachusetts and the Infrared Processing and Analysis Center, funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the National Science Foundation.

We have conducted a large infrared imaging survey with Spitzer of these regions; our IRAC (3-8 microns) map covers 9 square

The camera consists of a 12-CCD array with a total nominal 7.8 square-degree field of view and 1-arcsecond pixels. The Orion project is based on intensive high-cadence

Blanco1 is the only reasonably young (age < 150 Myr), reasonably nearby (distance < 250 pc) open cluster that is located both far from the ecliptic plane (beta = -28 degrees) and far from the galactic plane

The distance-independent ratio of hydrogen mass to optical luminosity that is derived, approximately equal to 0.7 times the solar ratio, is in fact more appropriate for a fairly late-type (Sc or Scd) spiral. The integrated colors, however, are appropriate for an earlier type galaxy in agreement with the morphological classification. Spectrophotometry of the jet associated with the galaxy resemble normal H II region spectra, which seems inconsistent with a model of violent ejection from the galaxy nucleus. Together with Arp's (1972) plate of the galaxy showing low surface-brightness shreds of nebulosity around IC 1182, these data seem consistent with a collision model involving a gas-rich spiral and an elliptical. Such a collision may have given rise to the observed nuclear emission lines as well.

Abundances are based on high resolution spectra obtained at ESO (3.6m + CASPEC) and CTIO (4m + echelle spectrograph) (4 data files).

Fifty four members ranging in spectral type from B8 to K6 show 24 micron fluxes consistent with bare photospheres. All Be stars show excesses attributed to free-free emission in their gaseous envelopes. Five early-type stars and four solar-type stars show excesses indicative of debris disks. We find a debris disk fraction of 25 % for B-A members and 10 % for F-K3 ones. These fractions appear intermediate between those for younger clusters and for the older field stars. They indicate a decay with age of the frequency of the dust-production events inside the planetary zone, with similar time scales for solar-mass stars as have been found previously for A-stars.

These photometric and spectroscopic data are used to refine the membership and evolutionary status of these stars as first reported in Randich et al. (1995, A&A, 300, 134).
