Bees have been documented in multiple forms, evidencing the human fascination with their life. Today, people are facing the reality of semi-feral bees vanishing from their hives: the ever-living bee colonies featured in the literature of the past have gone extinct. The Other Side aural space is an artwork by Ulla Taipale that offers an opportunity to listen to a selection of literary excerpts associated with the honeybees' immortality and their ability to communicate across parallel worlds.

Nevertheless, long-term scientific observations have proved that trees do migrate through landscapes and regions, very slowly and over decades to survive the impacts of climate change which advances faster than they do. The Wandering Tree project by artist Agnes Meyer-Brandis observes tree migration in different ecosystems, in Finland at Siikaneva peatland. The project creates narratives and raises questions of the effects of climate change on the ecosystems considered “naturally” unchangeable. This visual essay illustrates yet undiscovered stories of a tree. What happens in the peatland when we are not there? What stories will entangle with the new path of the pine?

Bees have been documented in multiple forms, evidencing the human fascination towards their life. Many of those who are inspired by bees, also point out their psychic and supernatural character. Their divinity has been speculated upon since pagan times. Today, facing the complex reality of the Anthropocene, people have woken up with the reality of semi-feral bees vanishing from the hives, as they watch over in vain. Even though the diversity among the beekeepers flourishes, the number of bee populations and bee species decline. Many scientists and beekeepers are eager to demonstrate that all can be explained and cured by man-made solutions, however the phenomenon remains unresolved. Science fiction and mythological writings reveal less measurable alternatives for bee loss. ...

Rather than giving prominence to the exclusive use of stable patterns of landform and vegetation that largely have characterized past parks, we are interested in the lessons learned from practices trying to conflate theories of aesthetic experience with ecosystem dynamics in order to influence urban trends and climate change. Our compilation of texts highlights questions and recognizes scenarios of conflict and opportunity. We describe places and sites where a temporal dimension accentuates or dramatizes socio-material sensitivities, and where a dynamic condition generates more or less informal commons and wildlands, or in other words, emergent parks taking into consideration the limits of human control

Since 2011 the program engages artists to interpret and disseminate scientific knowledge about the interactions between forests and the atmosphere and other research carried out at the station. Neither research nor viewpoints are tied to certain disciplines or species. Instead, we look for encounters and interplay between sciences, arts, people, trees, peatland, a lake and other organisms. Artists are invited to stay at the station as residents, having the possibility to enter into a dialogue with scientists and art curator.
