Uske janam Nacokaika, Naitasiri, Fiji me bhais rahaa. Uu University of Hawaii se Bachelor of Science ke degree kare ke baad New Delhi se Diploma in Journalism karis aur iske baad Fiji civil service join karis. 1979 me uu civil service se retire hoe ke Hindi bhasa waala newspaper, Shanti Dut ke editor banaa. August 1981 me uske Imperial Service Order (ISO) mila.[1]

1987 ke election ke khatir NFP-Labour Coalition uske Nausori/Levuka Indian Communal Constituency ke khatir chnis [2] jiske uu sahaj se jiit liis lekin ek mahina baad military coup of 1987 ke baad uske political career khalaas hoe gais.
