The representation of LGBTQ+ people in Indian cinema has evolved from early caricatures and stereotypes to delineations that are more intricate and assertive. This means that the portrayal of these characters has become more multifaceted and subtle. This paper investigates the progression of these portrayals, analysing the impact they have had on cultural attitudes as well as the ongoing path towards true-to-life depiction and acceptability in mainstream Bollywood films.

Pakeezah presents women as tragic heroines who are constrained by society norms, whereas Mirch Masala shows them as robust individuals who courageously confront and resist injustice. Bollywood films depict the transformation from being passive objects of desire to becoming forceful agents of change. This study explores the correlation between cinematic storylines and society attitudes, specifically focusing on the transformation of women's roles from traditional limitations to positions of power. It emphasises the themes of resilience and personal agency in overcoming challenges.

The film Lagaan portrays the colonial exploitation of lower castes, highlighting social and economic marginalisation. Banaras: A Mystic Love Story emphasises social barriers and marginalisation while examining caste dynamics in religious contexts. Peepli Live exposes the dehumanising impacts of caste and poverty as they are exploited by the media and political power. Collectively, these films demand social contemplation on the effects of caste prejudice on social justice and economic equality in contemporary India and critique systemic inequalities.

Taking recourse to Johan Galtung's theory of violence and its typology as presented in his violence triangle, I have attempted to probe in this paper how direct, structural and cultural violence is projected in Pinter's play, The Caretaker. Direct violence, which has a visibility factor is most often related to the invisible cultural and structural violence and is time and again the outcome of these subtle forms of violence. But it is a fact that direct violence does not affect many people as cultural and structural violence, which constitute the hidden but major part of the iceberg. The world has faced more violence through racism, poverty, religious fanaticism, unemployment, famine, illiteracy, sexism, conservative ideologies and so on. The paper attempts to establish that Pinter has through the play, The Caretaker, has presented a keen vision of our essentially violent world, which is intensified by the notion of menace and man's basic insecurity. Harold Pinter, the 2005 Nobel Laureate for literature, was not only a popular playwright, poet, screenwriter, short story writer, director, actor etc. but also a political activist who fought against the abuse of power in the familial, social and political sphere. As a pacifist, Pinter had always fought against violence, torture, and oppression. In his early comedies of menace, the latter political plays as well as his anti-war poems, an element of disillusionment

I am among the many who believe that it is inseparable as art mirrors life which is always embroiled in some controversy or the other. These controversies or complexities are the consequence of the political acts of not only the subjects of art but also the artist's own attempt to conform his readers to his own thought process. One such artist is Harold Pinter who not only participated in political debates, human rights rallies, antinuclear campaigns but also penned down through his plays and other works his political thoughts and vexation against social pathologies rampant all over the world. The present study is thus an attempt to fathom the political activism of Harold Pinter in a bid to understand better the pathology embedded in his plays directly political and thereby initiate measures to curb the universal injustice and exploitation committed against the weak, the poor, the marginalized and abjected groups.

It is a period of isolation under the supervision of medical personnel that individuals and/or groups of people go through when they exhibit symptoms of contagious diseases or come in contact with infected people. This practice has proved to be effective in controlling the spread of infectious diseases in the past as well as in the present century. Concurrently, it has also contributed significantly to depression, anxiety, fear and suicidal thoughts not only among the infected people but also among the healthy people. In other words, quarantine blues have had tremendous effects on the lives of many during times of pandemic in this world. But whenever human beings have faced natural or man-made calamities, they have also displayed great strength, courage and resilience to fight back and rebuild their own lives as well as that of others in society. The present paper is a study of this conflict between humanity and the challenges brought forth by the quarantine enforced on infected people during times of pandemic. The story taken for the study is Rajinder Singh Bedi’s Quarantine. The paper not only explores the physical trauma which plague-infected people and medical personnel go through in a quarantine centre but also gives an insight into the indomitable human spirit which perseveres against all odds during times of adversity. With the flexibility of working space and timing, employees and the organizational heads have redefined work culture and the old adage of strict 9 to 5 job seems to have been completed changed. The current paper attempts to understand the four behavioral patterns of DISC exhibited by leaders in any work environment. It explains what are the four behavioral traits and how they influence communication. And in a hybrid work environment, with lot of flexibility in time and space, what steps are to be taken in order to make communication effective and avert miscommunication as half of the employees work offline while the other half works online.

One such movement is postmodernism which arose after the World-War II. Postmodernism shares many features of modernism and at the same time breaks away from the Modernist standpoint. The present paper is an attempt to trace the signs of postmodernism in Pinter’s plays so that we can comprehend the power shifts, dehumanization, decentred individuality, ambiguity, absurdity and fragmentation that are associated with the post-Second World War era. Keywords: postmodernism, fragmentation, ambiguity, dehumanization, absurdity, communication failure, disillusionment
