Hongwei Xin
Dr. Xin is a Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in the Departments of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABE) and Animal Science at Iowa State University, Iowa Egg Council endowed professor, and director of the Egg Industry Center located at Iowa State University. His research and extension programs focus on a) air quality issues relative to animal production; b) animal-environment interactions with regards to animal bioenergetics, behavior and welfare, production efficiency and sustainability; and c) livestock and poultry housing systems and environmental control. As director of the Egg Industry Center, he oversees the operation of the Center whose mission is to add value to the egg industry by facilitating research and learning for egg producers, processors and consumers through national and international collaborations.
Professor Xin’s scholarly accomplishments include author/co-author of 165 published refereed journal articles (over 600 technical publications and presentations total); PI/Co-PI of $23 million in contracts and grants; mentor of 62 graduate students, post-docs and visiting scholars; delivery of over 100 invited talks in 15 countries. He serves on numerous academic, industry and government scientific advisory boards or task forces at state, national and international levels.
