With the availability of technology, it seems to be a easy enough proposition. The purpose of this paper is to understand the conditions that make knowledge sharing possible in an organization. 98 research articles were reviewed and the elements categorized under five dimensions – Individual, Group, Organizational, Process and Task – that contribute to the creation of conditions for knowledge sharing.

The settings of the studies have been varied from the laboratory to the field to longitudinal studies. The aspects have been studied at multiple levels - individual level constructs or group level constructs. In this first APS, the attempt has been made to understand the various aspects of group dynamics. This paper is a culmination of the effort of bringing together the various literature reviews. Considering the vast data that emerged, a model has been put together for easier understanding of the lay of the land. The paper concludes with the areas that can be taken up for further research.

The definition of effectiveness has remained and continues to remain elusive. One of the challenges that is repeatedly stated in the research on group effectiveness is the multitude of factors that affect it, and the interplay between them. This makes the study of group effectiveness very difficult. However, since groups are our basic unit of work in any organization, it is critical that we understand the concept and the application of group effectiveness, however elusive or difficult it might be. Towards that end, this paper explores the various studies in the area of group effectiveness from 1960 till date, in the context in which they were conducted – both lab and real time settings. Each of the theory/model is explored with the background of the research and the findings clearly mentioned along with the critique of the study, which details the positives and the limitations of the study. Finally, I have concluded with a summary of the way the group effectiveness studies have transitioned from 1960s till date and where we need to go from here. In conclusion, I have raised some of the questions that have to be taken up to explore the role of the facilitator as an enhancer of group effectiveness.
