Design/methodology/approach – The study is descriptive, in so far as its goal is to describe a method, and the nature of the paper is conceptual. The study draws on secondary materials through library research. Findings – In this paper both the traits as well as model of entrepreneurship are developed from Islamic perspective. The salient traits are knowledge, initiative, risk taking, customer orientation, employee involvement, strategic thinking, fear of Allah, hard working, innovativeness, excellence, honesty and truthfulness, morality, vision, optimism, patience, social welfare, Halal earnings and economical. The model would be used for developing entrepreneurship from Islamic perspective by performing various types of activities relating to the phases of preparatory and awareness development, support and motivation and feedback. The concept is relatively new but growing at a very high rate around the world. Companies are using it mostly for efficiency ground. This study is based on the argument that conventional crowd-funding models cannot be applicable exactly in the Islamic societies due to philosophical ground. In this paper, we have discussed crowd-funding models from Islamic perspectives for funding projects of social enterprise/social business in the Muslim societies with a view to ensure social equity and justice by removing many social problems like unemployment and poverty.

The authors employed a mixed-method approach to collect qualitative data by interviewing executives of ten MNEs while for quantitative data annual reports, websites, and articles were consulted. Results depicted insignificant contribution of MNEs in poverty alleviation by their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The average contribution of sample MNEs stand at only 0.52 per cent of profits after tax to CSR programs, ranging from 2.96% to 0.15%. The study reveals that most of the MNEs are not contributing as per their financial capacity and they lack a policy of donating a reasonable portion of profit to CSR along with poverty alleviation priority. The study suggests that government of Bangladesh must act sincerely and deliberately for active involvement of MNEs in CSR programs helpful for poverty alleviation by necessary policy ...

Using the economic data as well as survey data collected from purposively selected 120 bank executives of 20 private commercial banks of Bangladesh. The study through regression models finds that there is a significant positive correlations between HRD investment (in salaries and allowances, provident fund and gratuity, bonus and incentives, staff welfare and training, workshop, and seminar) and financial performance of the sample banks. Though, training is one of the important HRD indicators, the lowest investment was made in this sector by the sample banks. The findings of the study may be useful for bankers, policymakers, HR professionals, and the stakeholders of all types of organizations regardless of the geographical boundary. Green banking or sustainable banking is one of the issues of the concern of all stakeholders of t... more Green banking or sustainable banking is one of the issues of the concern of all stakeholders of the world. Following this concern, this study has investigated the status of green banking practices of the non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) and commercial banks of Bangladesh. Analyzing the contents of annual reports as well as websites of banks and NBFIs, the study finds that 44 out of 57 banks and 13 out of 33 NBFIs, to a varying degree, have exposures in direct or indirect green financing. But only 45 banks and 25 NBFIs conducted environmental risk rating. Most of the banks and NBFIs practice green banking only in a limited scale and volume and disclose green banking information in a semi structured manner in both the annual reports and corporate websites. However, except one, all the 56 scheduled banks and all the 33 non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) have their own green banking policy guidelines.
