These centers have various names (Student Accommodation Centers, Student Access Services, Disability Resources), but the goal of these centers is to support students with disabilities who are obtaining a postsecondary education. The previous research reviewed 30 universities that had listed information about their student center in the public domain (through Web sites). This research will move beyond the review of Web-based pages by surveying those employees who are in charge of these centers at the 30 institutions in addition to targeting public 4-year regional universities who not have a publicly accessible webpage. This paper discusses future research and implications from results of the pilot study and the need to further investigate university accommodation centers.

This can be frustrating for the student and affect the self-efficacy of writing in the target language. The more confidence students have in writing in their first language, the greater the self-efficacy will be when they write in their second language. The goals of this study were to determine if a review of English language grammar concepts would help students who are native speakers of English learning Spanish make fewer errors when writing in Spanish; this study also explores if this type of instruction would improve students’ self-efficacy in their second-language writing skills.

Teachers in K-5 institutions in major urban centers face language barriers when engaging with parents. Preservice teachers and second language learners need practical, applicable experience in connecting with parents and improving their shared reading strategy. Instructors need to include authentic, culturally diverse children's literature into the teacher candidates' world. Instructors can apply classroom knowledge to provide a product to solve a problem for current teachers. Benefits in this community engagement project are numerous for all the players involved. This chapter details a community engagement project that includes lesson plans to integrate culturally diverse children's literature, lesson plans for instructions in interactive read alouds, provides research-based evidence behind the benefits of interactive read alouds, cultur...

Unfortunately, little research or literature has been devoted to this issue. This paper reviews the literature on smart toys for children in general, and extrapolates what we have learned from smart toys and computer use in the home to children with disabilities. It suggests future directions for research, and proposes that the field of technology in the home for children with disabilities is wide open and clearly in need of study.
