This study aims to identify sources of and preferences towards agricultural information among cowpea farmers in Rimi Local Government Area, Katsina State. Questionnaires were administered to 150 randomly selected farmers from five communities in the area. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. It was found that the major sources of information to the respondents were fellow farmers (40%) and radio (30%), while only 10% of the farmers obtain information from Extension workers. It is recommended that agricultural information via Extension agents and other sources should be made accessible and utilized to assist farmers towards improved crop production in the study area.

The strength of the obtained pilot product was comparable with the current industrial honeycomb product from only filter cake, but its denitration (DeNOx) efficiency was elevated up to 15 percentage points. Multiple characterizations revealed the filter cake and industrial titanium dioxide to be composed of primary particles and secondary particles, respectively, and the introduced secondary particles from industrial titanium dioxide resulted in increased specific surface area and pore size/volume, facilitating the exposure of more active sites with improved activity. Moreover, a positive correlation property was found between the honeycomb strength and crystallinity for the samples from different titanium sources. The filter cake with rich hydroxyl groups and weak crystallinity could be fused more easily among these p...

Interaction of PEO with Na-ion was investigated with fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) which reveals the extend of Na-ion solvation by PEO (EO:Na). The crystallinity of the polymer electrolyte was investigated with X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermal properties of the composites were studied with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The DSC results show that the melting temperature (T m ) of PEO decreases addition of both NaClO 4 and hBN. TGA results showed that all the composites membranes were thermally stable till 300 o C. Surface morphology of the composite was examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) which also reveals the homogeneous dispersion of nano hBN in the polymer matrix. Ionic conductivit...

Changes in serum electrolytes (sodium, potassium, calcium, phosphate and chloride) and performance characteristics were investigated in surgically castrated bucks four weeks post surgery. Ten (n=10) apparently healthy bucks were used and they were randomly divided into experimental group [castrated (n=5)] and control group [intact (n=5)] after 3 weeks of acclimatization. Parameters were measured weekly for 4 weeks post-castration. At week 1, the castrated bucks had significantly low sodium and potassium concentration (P<0.05). No significant changes of sodium and potassium levels were observed in weeks 2, 3 & 4 post castration. The castrated bucks had a significantly higher feed intake throughout the study period (P<0.05). Variation in body weight gain, feed conversion ratio and body mass index ...

The most effective way to achieve these goals is to be proactive by predicting the behaviours of the VMs. Analysing VMs is important, as it can help cloud providers gain insights to understand the needs of their customers, predict their demands, and optimise the use of resources. To manage the resources in the cloud efficiently, and to ensure the performance of cloud services, it is crucial to predict the behaviour of VMs accurately. This will also help the cloud provider improve VM placement, scheduling, consolidation, power management, etc. In this paper, we proposed a framework for fast analysis and prediction in large scale VM CPU utilisation. We use a novel approach both in terms of the algorithms employed for prediction and in terms of the tools used to run these algorithms with a large dataset to deliver a solid VM CPU util...

We designed and implemented a face recognition system using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Faster R Convolutional Neural Network (Faster R CNN). In particular, we improve the state-of-the-art Faster RCNN framework by using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) technique and Faster R CNN to detect and recognise faces in a face database. The Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was used to extract features and dimensionality reduction from the face database, while the Faster R Convolutional Neural Network algorithm was used to identify patterns in the dataset via training the neural network. The three real-world datasets used in our experiment are ORL, Yale, and California face dataset. When implemented on the ORL face dataset, the algorithm achieved average recognition accuracy of 99%, with a recognition time of 147.72 second...

Investigating such heterogeneous data is one of the most challenging tasks in information management and data analytics. The heterogeneity and decentralization of data sources affect data visualization and prediction, thereby influencing analytical results accordingly. Data harmonization (DH) corresponds to a field that unifies the representation of such a disparate nature of data. Over the years, multiple solutions have been developed to minimize the heterogeneity aspects and disparity in formats of big-data types. In this study, a systematic review of the literature was conducted to assess the state-of-the-art DH techniques. This study aimed to understand the issues faced due to heterogeneity, the need for DH and the techniques that deal with substantial heterogeneous textual datasets. The process produced 1355 articles, but among them, only 70 articles were found to be relevant through inclusion and exclusion criteri...

It offers an adaptable IT architecture which is accessible via the internet for lightweight and hand-held compact gadgets. The concept has encouraged numerous folds to improve in the capacity or capabilities of the existing and new software. In the cloud computing environment, the whole data/information is available over a set of networked resources, empowering the information to be accessible via virtual machines. Dyes are among the pollutants that pollute our water bodies. In the olden days so many methods were applied for the purification of water but recently photocatalysis shown a promising technique where the pollutants (dyes) were degraded to give clean water and carbon dioxide to be liberated as the end product. The specific surface area of the photocatalyst 243.80 m2g-1 and the PZC was found to be 8.10. Only 0.9% of the dye (MG) decolorized in the presence of light (photolysis) while 25% of the MG was adsorbs in the dark with 30 minutes of contact. The ANOVA showed an F-value of 1114.81 which suggests that the model is significant. All model terms i.e. MG initial concentration, photocatalyst dose, irradiation period and pH are all significant with Prob>” values <0.05. The predicted R-squared that has a value 0.995 was in perfect agre...
