Hence, this study aims to identify and assess the drivers for implementing modular construction systems (MCS) in developing countries. Design/methodology/approach The study adopts a quantitative research approach to seek respondents’ opinions on the factors that can drive the implementation of MCS in developing countries. Accordingly, a structured questionnaire was used as an instrument of data collection based on five Likert scales. The data was analysed using the mean score, one sample t-test, Kruskal–Wallis, factor analysis (FA) and Pearson correlation analysis. Findings Results show that 15 of the 16 major identified drivers were statistically significant towards implementing MCS, which indicates that the drivers are crucial fo...

Assessment of the opinion of the professionals using the Kruskal–Wallis scale showed that they hold similar views on the barriers to the adoption of MCS. Pearson correlation shows a high correlation coefficient amongst the barrier categories and an acceptable level of significance (p...

Drawing from these platform, it is possible to make learning occurs through interaction with rich learning environments using online or standalone interactive multimedia and hypermedia thus making a significant progress in information management in educational setting. Consequently, the interactivity embedded in these technologies will build a new layer of competency; encourage the growth of learner responsibility, commitment, initiative, decision-making, intentional learning and ownership over the acquired knowledge, thus making the learner an active processor of information. This paper discusses the basic elements of interactive multimedia and hypermedia for enhancing information management in educational settings, the structure of interactive multimedia and hypermedia instruction, the design principles of interactive multimedia and hypermedia instruction. Finally, the paper portrayed the potential benefits to teachers and

To  compliment these, the workers are governed by service condition with rules and regulations established by their employers. The result of power imbalance leads to employer and employee disagreement or conflict. This has far reaching implications to the development of the Nation. Hence, labour plays a crucial role in the quest for the Country’s development despite its current economic situation. However, the paper examines Industrial Conflict in Nigeria, its root, causes and effects to National development. Frustration Aggression theory was used as theoretical framework. As a descriptive type of study, the study utilizes Secondary sources such as Newspapers, Journals, and Textbooks as sources for data collection. The study discovers that a grievance as a result of low wages, poor working condition and lack of promotion leads to conflict. That strike of any nature impedes the development of the organization as well as the Nation. From the study, the Paper concludes that despite the functions of Industrial Conflict (Strike) it is bad for the society. It however recommends that owners of Industries and Employees should produce a communiqué that will better reduce conflicts. Employers of labour should also ensure that their employees are adequately motivated so as to increase productivity and job satisfaction. It is also recommended that government should ensure that Industrial Relations Act is adhered to properly so as to reduce conflict reoccurrence

T... more There are significant challenges and prospects of e-learning in Nigerian polytechnic education. The process and applications of e-learning technologies include computer-based learning, web-based learning, virtual learning, network learning, tele-learning, blended learning, hybrid models, internet learning, computer-assisted learning, online classroom and digital collaborations where contents is delivered via the internet/extranet, audio, video, tapes, satellite TV and CD ROM. In Nigerian polytechnics the commonest type of e-learning adopted is inform of lectures. Education is the foundation of innovation and development. The role of e-learning in teaching and learning process cannot be overemphasized. E-learning is one of the most efficient tools for advancing knowledge, skills and development in any nation. It is necessary for quality education in Nigerian tertiary institutions. Education refers to the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or polytechnic. The act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment and generally preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life. This paper provides the concepts, benefits, challenges and prospects facing e-learning education in Nigerian polytechnics. The purpose of this study is to identify the challenges and prospects of e-learning in Nigerian polytechnics. The paper recommends that government at all levels; non-governmental organizations and private sectors should assist to equip polytechnic's e-learning centers with modern equipment for effective delivery of lectures to students with e-learning technologies. E-learning represents an entirely new learning environment where information and communication systems, whether networked learning or not, serve as specific media to implement the learning process for students. In response to the fast development in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), e-learning was therefore adopted by many universities and other higher institutions around the globe as a way of improving and supporting their teaching-learning activities and making education accessible for all society members. Unfortunately, this rapidly changing technological resource along with the ever growing and mobile society has no doubt created many challenges for students, teachers, parents, administrators and policymakers particularly in developing countries. This actually made the paper to assess the e-learning structure in term of physical infrastructure and human development at the Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna State, Nigeria through data collected both by structured interview and questionnaires. The analyses of which the states of development are at low realm therefore, call for a robust synergy that will be able to meet and cope with the test of the time.

Little is known about the visual acuity of commercial drivers and the perceived effect on driving in our setting. The study assessed the prevalence and pattern of visual impairment among commercial intercity vehicle drivers in Dutse, Jigawa State, Nigeria. A systematic sampling technique was used to select 172 commercial intercity vehicle drivers in four major motor parks in Dutse. All respondent were tested for distance visual acuity using Snellen’s tumbling E chart and categorised as normal (VA≥6/12) or vision impaired (VA<6/12). Drivers with impaired vision were further assessed to determine those due to uncorrected refractive error. Data was analysed using SPSS version 20.0. The mean age (±SD) of the respondents was 41.7 (±11.1) years. Prevalence of visual impairment was found to be 11.0% (n=19). Of those with visual impairment, majority (n=16; 84.2%)...

With this development, the information security breach is now one of the complex and challenging issues software developers are facing. The tools that have been developed for penetration testing with the purpose to raise the level of security strength, have been used also by malicious intruders to gain access to our devices. This paper aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of some selected antivirus (AV) evasion tools: Avet, Veil 3.0, PeCloak.py, Shellter, and a Fat Rat, against a Window platform. The selection of these tools was made for the purpose of testing how they can generate undetectable malware against the current best Antivirus Solution products in the market. This, in turn, revealed AV solutions with the best performance in detecting malware with evasion capability. The paper adopted an experimental research ...

The concentrated methanol extract was subsequently partitioned with petroleum ether, chloroform, ethylacetate and n-butanol. Agar well Diffusion method was used to determine the antimicrobial activities of the extracts against Staphylococcus aureaus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiela pneumonia, Salmmnella typhi, Streptococcus pyogenes, Candida krusei, Candida tropicalis, and Candida albican at different concentrations. Antimicrobial sensitivity test indicated that, the extract inhibited the growth of all microorganisms to varying degrees except Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida krusei respectively. The in vitro antimicrobial screening revealed that, the extracts exhibited diverse activities against different microbe’s concentrations...
