These cultivars were grown in two winter seasons: 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 at the experimental farm Fac. of Agric., Suez Canal Univ., Ismailia, Egypt, under two watering regimes: normal (100%) and stress (50% FC) conditions. Six agronomic traits and five tolerance indices, namely stress tolerance (TOL), mean productivity (MP), geometric mean productivity (GMP), yield stability index (YSI), and drought susceptibility index (DSI), were used to evaluate the impact of drought stress. The results reflected Giza 171, Misr 2, and Giza 168 as precious germplasm for breeding of high-yielding drought-tolerant wheat. A highly significant positive correlation was recorded between yield under normal and stress conditions on...

Egyptian lakes face many challenges such as over-fishing, illegal and destructive fishing methods, human activities and pollution which affected the fish production from it. The lakes’ contribution to the Egyptian fish production decreased from about 50% in 80’s to the only 10% during 2017. Lake Nasser, as one of the largest artificial lakes in the world, plays a significant role in Egyptian fisheries. Its mean annual fish production is about 28,000 ton, this constituted 18% of the total fish harvested from Egyptian lakes. The catch and effort data over 15 years were collected from the lake and analyzed to assess its status and to summerize the main problems facing its development and management. Maximum Sustainable Yield of Nasser lake with special reference to the Nile tilapia, the main species in the lake, is estimated based on catch and effort data from 2003 to 2017. However, the country still struggles with high prevalence of child labor and the associated negative social and health effects. The objective of this study was to identify the prevalence and determinants of work-related injuries among working children in Egypt. Methods This study involved a secondary data analysis of the National Child Labor Survey (NCLS) conducted in 2010 by The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) in Egypt with technical and financial support from the ILO’s International Program on the Elimination of Child Labor (IPEC) through its Statistical Information and Monitoring Program on Child Labor (SIMPOC). The total number of working children who responded to questions of work-related injuries in the NCLS child questionnaire was 7485 children. Results The prevalence of work-related injuries among working children in Egypt was estimated as 24.1% (95% CI:...

To achieve this objective, the research will hypothesize that poor management skill such as human resources, financial management, general management, production management and marketing management regarding the poor performance of SMEs in the manufacturing sector of Cairo, Egypt. The importance of this study on both the academic and the application levels is attributed to SMEs, despite their contributions to the Egyptian economy, have not been given due attention as the research of performance has been biased towards large enterprises. The aim of this study was to distinguish the Lethrinus lentjan (Lacepede, 1802) and L. microdon (Valenciennes, 1830) (family: Lethrinidae) using otolith shape. The analyses apply the ShapeR package in R which enables to extract the outline and otolith morphology from images and for statistical examining of individual variation. Otoliths of 165 individuals from the two Lethrinus species were collected during 2019 and 2020. The wavelet levels were examined by using 6 wavelets to collect 63 coefficients. The regression between width and fish length were b = -0.03 (t = 2.6, P = 0.01) for L. lentjan and was significantly different (t = 2.120, P = 0.036) for L. microdon (b = 0.018).

A total of 927 fish specimens were monthly collected from the commercial catch of artisanal boats at different sites in the Egyptian Red Sea during the fishing seasons 2014 and 2015. Results showed that, the longevity of L. microdon is 7 years in the Egyptian Red Sea and age group one was the most frequent one forming up to 32% of the total catch. The highest growth in length was observed at the end of the first year of life (24.95 cm) after which the annual increment decreases gradually with increase in age. The “b” value (2.90) reflected the tendency to be negative allometric growth. The length at first capture was 23.71 cm with corresponding age 0.93 year. The total, natural and fishing mortality were estimated as 1.04, 0.30 and 0.74 yr-1, respectively. The exploitation ratio E was estimated at 0.71 indicating a high leve...

Thus an experiment was designed to investigate the effects of dietary thiamine supplementation on performance, egg quality, and antioxidant-related enzymes in laying ducks. In total, 900 Longyan pullets 22wk-old with similar body weight were randomly assigned to six treatments (twenty five ducks per replicate pens and six replicates per treatment). The control group was fed a corn-soybean meal basal diet containing 0.93 mg thiamine/kg, while the other treatment groups were fed basal diets supplemented with 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, or 5.0 mg thiamine/kg. The experimental data were analysed by one-way ANOVA as a single factor design. Dietary thiamine did not change egg production, egg weight, egg mass, FCR, shape index, Haugh unit, yolk color, egg composition, eggshell quality, and concentrations of antioxidant-related enzymes, but it elevated (linearly; P< 0.02...

Intensive rehabilitation protocols outperform nonintensive counterparts. The subacute stroke phase represents a potential window to recovery. Virtual reality (VR) has been shown to provide a more stimulating environment, allowing for increased patient compliance. However, the quality of current literature comparing VR with standard therapies is limited. Our aim is to measure the impact of VR versus standard therapy on the recovery of the upper limb motor function in patients with stroke in the early subacute recovery phase. Method: This is a randomized, controlled trial that will assign 262 patients to tailor-made standard rehabilitation (TMSR) or TMSR plus immersive VR device. The trial will be conducted in an urban rehabilitation clinic in the United States with expertise in the management of poststroke patients. Patients will be 18 to 70 years of age and in the early subacute period (30-90 d...
