This work reports the effect of thickness and annealing on the surface morphology and optical pro... more This work reports the effect of thickness and annealing on the surface morphology and optical properties of spin coated Lanthanum Fluoride (LaF3) thin films. LaF3 films have been prepared by spin-coating process. The variation of surface morphology with varying thickness of the deposited Lanthanum Fluoride (LaF3) spin coated thin films was analyzed by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Optical Microscope (OM). Transmittance and Reflectance of the films were measured by Perkin-Elmer λ-19 Spectrophotometer in the wavelength range of 200 nm to 1100 nm for different layer thickness. The effect of annealing on surface smoothness as well as on Transmittance, Reflectance and absorbance of LaF3 films of different thickness has also been observed. Annealing was done at 400 ̊C for 15 minutes. It was observed that the spin coated LaF3 films provide a good transmittance in the near-infrared wavelength range and with proper annealing treatment better surface smoothness of the films could be obtai...
