A number of existing threats (anthropogenic and environmental) may be increasing the risk of extinction for the species. A better understanding of the ecology and conservation needs of the species is required to manage the wild populations. Specifically, better information related to population distributions, ecological requirements, priority conservation areas, the impact of future climate on suitable habitat, and current population structure is needed to properly assess extinction risks. A better understanding of the requirements of the species in its natural habitat would benefit for successfully securing the species at Botanic Gardens. We have identified 14 new occurrence records of N. talangensis in Mount Talang. Study on the ecological requirement using Random Forest (RF) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) suggested that elevation, canopy cover, so...

This study aimed to determine the trophic status of the freshwater reservoir in different seasons using satellite imagery. Water quality data were obtained from field surveys (11 samples) during the wet and dry seasons in Cirata Reservoir (Indonesia) while the remote sensing images were obtained from the Landsat-8 OLI. Trophic status refers to Carlson's Trophic State Index consisting of two parameters named chlorophyll-A and water transparency. This study found that satellite imagery could estimate seasonal trophic information. During the wet season, the algorithms determined information about chlorophyll-A (48%) and transparency (35%). Whereas during the dry season, the algorithms successfully estimated both information at 59% and 21%, respectively. Unfortunately, the Landsat-8 OLI h...

Situ Patengan is also used for various activities including as a tourist area, fishing, and tea plantations as well as plantation business rights. The number of activities around Situ Patengan can potentially affect the quality of the waters and the organisms in it, including macrozoobenthos organisms. The presence of macrozoobenthos can also be used as a bioindicator of water quality because it is very sensitive to environmental changes. This study aims to determine the diversity, abundance, and influence of environmental factors on macrozoobenthos and to determine the water quality of Situ Patengan. The research was conducted using the purposive sampling method. Three stations are determined based on environmental factors and land use in the inlet area, forest edge, and tourism area. Based on the results of the study found 3 macrozoobenthos phyla, ...

In this article, the authors try to build a model which have been modified from basic Lotka-Volterra model with addition logistic function to prey population and Holling Type II functional response to predator population as well as harvesting of both population. The equilibrium points and the stabilityvare done here through the linearization. Dynamical simulations are shown to illustrate the dynamics of the two populations. Based on the results of analysis and dynamical simulation, the MSY value can be achieved when the harvesting efforts does not exceed or equal the MSY value.

The addition of concentrate with high protein content is expected to increase the protein content in feed and improving the quality of feed (especially ammonia (NH3) production in rumen). The purpose of this research was to know the effect of addition of concentrate in increasing the protein content and also the potential of Cajuput leaves waste mixture with field grass as a sheep feedby in vitro test. The experiment used a complete randomized design with three treatments (R1 = 50% field grass + 50% concentrate; R2 = 25% Cajuput leaves waste + 25% field grass + 50% concentrate; R3 = 50% Cajuput leaves waste + 50% concentrate) with four repetitions. Statistics test with Anova followed by Duncan test. Cajuput plant essential oil has the largest compound component, 1.8 cineol which has the ability as an antibacterial to kill pathogenic bacteria. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of cajuput leaf waste extract against pathogenic bacteria and find out the category of inhibition zones formed from extracts of cajuput leaf waste. This study used a completely randomized design method. Cajuput leaf waste used has a shelf life of 0, 2 and 4 months old. The pathogenic bacteria used consisted of 17 isolates, each treatment was repeated twice. The results showed that cajuput leaf extract had antibacterial activity known by the formation of inhibitory zones. The inhibitory zone in the extract of the 0-month leaf waste was greater than in the leaf extract of leaf of 2 months and 4 months. The diameter of the inhibition zone is at most 13 mm and at least ...

The measured variables were NH3, volatile fatty acids (VFA), dry matter Digestibility (DMD) and organic matter Digestibility (DMO). Completely randomized design was made with 5 different treatments and 4 replications, in order to get 20 experimental units. Data were analyzed by analysis of Variance (ANOVA) Followed by Duncan's multiple range test with a significance level of 5%. The results showed that the giving 100 % of gelam leaves produced NH3 dan VFA for about 4.01 and 151.25 mM, also DMD and DMO by 58.35 and 52.38%. These results were significant (p<0.05), higher than the grass field, so it can be concluded that the waste of gelam leaves, potentially be used as cattle feed. Key words: M. cajuputi Powell, in vitro, cattle feed

L.) is one of the plants that grows naturally at some peat types (deep, medium depth, and shallow peatlands) in peat land area of Central Kalimantan - Indonesia. The plants is under heavy environtmental stress due to the cutting of the trees for uses as a timber which worsen the existing degraded peat land condition. Therefore it is important to explore non-timber products of the gelam trees. The leaves is one of the most potential sources of non-timber products of the trees. Essential oil constituents of leaf extract of Gelam (M. leucadendra), growing in various peat swamp regions in Central Kalimantan were investigated using GC/MS analysis. Forty eight secondary metabolite compounds from M. leucadendra oil, growing in shallow peatland were detected, also forty compounds from this species, growing in medium depth and deep peatland which three unidentified compounds. Oil of M. leucadendra is dominated by γ-terpinene, α-terpinolene, caryo...

One attempt to overcome this problem is the use of phytoplankton as natural feed. The purpose of this study is to determine phytoplankton community structure and potential as a resource phytoplankton feed on larval rearing carp. The research was conducted in April 2012. The results showed that the phytoplankton found in the larval rearing pond goldfish are Class Bacillariophyceae (1 genera), Chlorophyceae (13 genera), and Cyanophyceae (7 genera). Phytoplankton Chlorophyceae group is a group that has the highest abundance of larval rearing carp pond. Diversity index of phytoplankton in pond carp larvae ranged from 0.65 to 1.64 (Low Diversity). Based on the preponderance index carp larvae utilize phytoplankton as natural feed by selecting the class Chlorophyceae and Cyanophyceaea in early growth until the time nursery a preponderance index value respectively 87.76% and 12.23%.

This study aimed to determine the improvement of cajuput leaf waste nutrition with the help of yeast as well as the effect of fermented cajuput leaf waste along with a mixture of concentrates and field grass on digestibility, NH3, and VFA which were carried out in vitro test. The results showed the nutritional content of cajuput leaf waste fermented by yeast of Aspergillus chevalieri had the best value of protein 16.03%, fiber 16.92%, and fat 5.93%.
