This has been done, keeping in view, the convenience of both the teachers and students so that whole process can be made flexible and accessible to all. Blended learning appears to be an effective approach that combines the benefits of both online and offline classroom practices. Teachers are considered as the key personnel in bringing about transformation in any educational programme. Hence, it becomes imperative to endow preparation of teachers in order to accomplish any current needs of the students at all levels of learning. This paper aims to open up new ways for better understanding about the concept of blended learning and teacher education, the importance of blended learning in teacher education and conditions essential for its successful implementation. The present paper also hig...

The challenges of abiotic stress on plant growth and development are evident among the emerging ecological impacts of climate change. In a compatible environment for one genotype may not be fitable for another. The field of plant abiotic stress encompasses all studies on abiotic factors or stresses from the environment that can impose stress on a variety of species. Abiotic stress induces redox imbalance during reproductive growth. These studies indicate that stress induced over accumulation of ROS leads to pollen abortion and programmed cell death of microspores in developing anthers consequently resulting in male sterility. With these changing climatic conditions climate resilient crops and crop varieties have been recommended as a way for farmers to cope with or adopt to climate change. Integrated physiological and molecular approaches are important for comba...

To get the best returns, the quality of the seed should be of top priority. Seed physical, biochemical characters contribute to the success of seed. If the crop is taken in fallow conditions, the ultimate success of the crop depends on seed characters and quality. The present investigation was undertaken to characterize the relationship between the seed characters and quality of lentil WBL-58, at the department of plant physiology, B.C.K.V during the year 2017-18. Concerning physiological standpoint, seed screening is most important to mitigate the stress for late sown lentil in West Bengal field condition and to develop an effective protocol to grow a healthy crop with better yield.

Sukhsagar as influenced by different sowing spacing of bulbs” was conducted in the Horticultural Research farm of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Mohanpur, Nadia, West Bengal, which is situated at 23o5 ́ N latitude and 80o02 ́ E longitudes with an elevation of 9.75 meter from the sea level and a distance of about 100 km in north of the capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata having well connected with road (NH-34) during the year 2016 to 2017. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effect of different sowing spacing of onion bulbs on plant growth and quality seed production of onion. Onion variety “Sukhsagar Local” with three different sowing spacing (S1 : 30 cm x 30 cm, S2 : 40 cm x 30 cm, S3 : 50 cm x 30) had a remarkable impact on seed yield, yield attributes and seed quality. Plant height, number of leaves per plant, length of scape, number of umbles per plant, umble diameter, seed yield per plant, germination...

Nut yield in groundnut is polygenically controlled and is influenced by its component characters. A field experiment was conducted to study the variation in respect of kernel yield and its component characters along with dry matter production and partitioning at important vegetative and reproductive growth stages in nineteen genotypes of groundnut. The correlation studies were also conducted to prioritize morphological and physiological traits for improving yield. Genotypes exhibited significant differences among them in respect of kernel yield and its all attributes. Highly significant differences were recorded in respect of dry matter production and partitioning to different plant parts at pre-anthesis (30 DAS) and post-anthesis pod filling (60 DAS) stages.

The maximum air temperature of higher than 25oC frequently encountered in lentil at the reproductive stage mainly in West Bengal rice-lentil cropping pattern. Such high temperatures in rabi season impair the crop growth and productivity. Added to this, future climate predictions are indicating 27-28oC during this period. Methods: The field-laboratory experiment was conducted during 2014, with 20 genotypes of lentil. The field experiment was laid in split plot design with 3 different windows of sowing, while the laboratory investigation was carried out in completely randomized design with pollen collected from the field experiment.Result: The present investigation reveals that high air temperature greater than 25oC resulted in the failure of pollen germination, increase in abnormal pollen tube and aborted pollen. A drastic effect in ...
