Strategies developed for database preservation in the past include technology preservation, migra... more Strategies developed for database preservation in the past include technology preservation, migration, emulation and the use of a universal virtual computer. In this paper we present a new concept of "Model Migration for Database Preservation". Our proposed approach involves two major activities. First, migrating the database model from conventional relational model to dimensional model and second, calculating the information embedded in code and preserving it instead of preserving the code required to calculate it. This will affect the originality of the database but improve two other characteristics: the information considered relevant is kept in a simple and easier to understand format and the systematic process to preserve the dimensional model is independent of the DBMS details and application logic.

Sistem lokalisasi robot sepakbola berbasis mesin visi, bertujuan untuk membuat rancang bangun sis... more Sistem lokalisasi robot sepakbola berbasis mesin visi, bertujuan untuk membuat rancang bangun sistem lokalisasi robot sepakbola. Upaya untuk mewujudkan gagasan ini dilatarbelakangi perlunya sistem lokalisasi pada robot sepakbola agar dapat bermain bola dengan efektif dan efisien. Hasil penelitian yang diharapkan adalah adanya sistem lokalisasi robot sepakbola berbasis kamera dan kompas elektronik. Dengan demikian akan dapat dikembangkan robot sepakbola yang memiliki kemampuan bermain yang lebih baik, karena dengan adanya sistem lokalisasi ini, robot akan dapat menentukan perilaku yang lebih tepat pada kondisi dan lokasi tertentu, misalnya: ketika menemukan bola di daerah sendiri maupun menemukan bola di daerah lawan. Metode penelitian disusun berdasar rancangan sistem yang terdiri dari bagian-bagian utama yaitu: pengambilan gambar/citra lapangan, pemrosesan informasi citra menjadi informasi tentang lokasi robot pada saat itu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem lokalisasi pada penelitian ini telah mampu melakukan perkiraan lokasi robot terhadap gawang.

Both the incidence of esophageal adenocarcinoma (EA) and its precursor, Barrett's... more Both the incidence of esophageal adenocarcinoma (EA) and its precursor, Barrett's esophagus (BE) is increasing rapidly in the western world. The progression of BE to EA follows the metaplasia-dysplasia-carcinoma sequence which makes BE the focus of intervention before the development of EA. Considerations are given on the feasibility of a screening program for the population at risk, followed by surveillance of patients found to have BE on endoscopy. Potential management options are then stratified based histological findings of various degrees of dysplasia. This begins with watchful waiting or surveillance as in the case of BE with no dysplasia and low-grade dysplasia (LGD). Ablative therapies such as radiofrequency ablation (RFA) can be considered in non-visible high-grade dysplasia (HGD). With visible lesions and intramucosal cancers, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) or Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) is generally recommended as a treatment and staging technique. Esophagectomy remains the treatment of choice in EA where there is a high risk of metastasis such as those with deeper submucosal invasion, lymph-vascular or neural invasion and those of higher tumour grade.

ABSTRACT In this paper spark plasma sintering (SPS) of silicon carbide and multi-walled carbon na... more ABSTRACT In this paper spark plasma sintering (SPS) of silicon carbide and multi-walled carbon nanotube reinforced zirconium diboride ultra-high temperature ceramic matrix composites is reported. Systematic investigations on the effect of reinforcement type (SiC and CNTs) and content (10–40 vol.% SiC and 2–6 vol.% CNTs) on densification behavior, microstructure development, and mechanical properties (microhardness, bi-axial flexural strength, and indentation fracture toughness) are presented. With the similar SPS processing parameters (1900 °C, 70 MPa pressure, and 15 min soaking time), near-full densification (>99% relative density) was achieved with 10–40% SiC (in ZrB2–SiC) and 4–6% CNT (in ZrB2–CNT) reinforced composites. The SiC and CNT reinforcement further improved the indentation fracture toughness of the composites through a range of toughening mechanisms, including particle shearing, crack deflection at the particle-matrix interface, and grain pull-outs for ZrB2–SiC composites, and CNT pull-outs and crack deflection in ZrB2–CNT composites.
ABSTRACT This study reports on the fabrication and characterization of polymer‐derived amorphous ... more ABSTRACT This study reports on the fabrication and characterization of polymer‐derived amorphous and nano‐grained SiC, by controlled pyrolysis of allylhydridopolycarbosilane (AHPCS) under inert atmosphere. Processing temperatures and hold times at final temperatures are varied to study the influence of processing parameters on the structure and resulting properties. Chemical changes, phase transformations, and microstructural changes occurring during the pyrolysis process are studied. Polymer cross‐linking and polymer to ceramic conversion is studied using infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) are performed to monitor the mass loss and phase change as a function of temperature. X‐ray diffraction studies are performed to study the intermediate phases and microstructural changes. Hardness and modulus measurements are carried out using instrumented nanoindentation to establish processing‐property‐structure relationship for SiC derived from the polymer precursor. It is seen that the presence of nanocrystalline domains in amorphous SiC significantly influences the modulus and hardness. A nonlinear relationship is observed in these properties with optimal mechanical properties observed for SiC processed to 1150°C for 1 h hold duration, having average grain size of 3 nm. In addition, bulk mechanical characterization, in terms of biaxial flexure strength, is done for SiC–SiC particulate composites purely derived from the polymer precursor.
