Therefore, a fast and reliable fault diagnosis method is essential for machine condition monitoring. In this study, noise eliminated ensemble empirical mode decomposition (NEEEMD) was used for fault feature extraction. A convolution neural network (CNN) classifier was applied for classification because of its feature learning ability. A generalized CNN architecture was proposed to reduce the model training time. A sample size of 64×64×3 pixels RGB scalograms are used as the classifier input. However, CNN requires a large number of training data to achieve high accuracy and robustness. Deep convolution generative adversarial network (DCGAN) was applied for data augmentation during the training phase. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed feature extraction method, scalograms from related feature extraction methods such as ensemble empirical mode decomp...

In machine condition monitoring, time-series vibration data are overly used in data mining for deep neural networks. Typically, vibration data is converted into images for classification using Deep Neural Networks (DNNs), and scalograms are the most effective form of image representation. However, the DNN classifiers require huge labeled training samples to reach their optimum performance. So, many forms of data augmentation techniques are applied to the classifiers to compensate for the lack of training samples. However, the scalograms are graphical representations where the existing augmentation techniques suffer because they either change the graphical meaning or have too much noise in the samples that change the physical meaning. In this study, a data augmentation technique named ensemble augmentation is proposed to overcome this limitation. This augmentation method uses ...

It uses fluorescent materials embedded in an optical waveguide to absorb, reemit, and concentrate incident solar irradiance to the edges of the waveguide, where small Photovoltaic (PV) cells are attached. Quantum dot (QD) is a good candidate as luminophores for LSCs as it shows a larger Stokes shift, which helps to reduce the dominant reabsorption loss. Here, an effective Monte Carlo ray-tracing simulation model is developed incorporating all loss mechanisms of LSCs to study the optimal concentration of QDs for a given LSC structure that provides the maximum optical efficiency. Three different QDs (CuInS2, AgInS2/ZnS, and ClSeS/ZnS) are employed here to investigate the optimal concentration of the 10cm×15cm×0.3cm LSC system. Among the QDs investigated here, the AgInS2/ZnS QD-based LSC shows the highest efficiency of 2.545% at the concentration of 200 pp...

The sun is up for most of the time of the year. Sunlight falls on solar photovoltaic modules and it is then converted into electricity. With the increase of photovoltaic grid-connected capacity, photovoltaic generation will bring many impacts on the distribution network. Besides, the rural area of Bangladesh is in great need of electricity. Most of the villages get less power than the demand thus resulting in blackout and continuous power cut. In this paper, first through a survey, the average demand of a village was estimated for summer and winter. Then how much power the area gets was measured and from the difference between supply and demand the energy required during grid failure was assessed. In this case, a grid connected photovoltaic system with a battery backup was proposed. Then a suitable system voltage and current were selected. The energy of the battery bank, capacity, and numbers we...

One-third land of this country is in off-grid area which force farmers to use diesel for irrigation purpose. Several research works show that PV Solar technology is useful for irrigation system rather than conventional fossil fuels using various simulation software. But the ambiguities arise to select simulation software for techno-economic analysis. This study identifies the effectiveness of RE simulation software for techno-economic analysis and compare the benefits between PV Diesel and solar PV based water pumping system. The efficacy of mostly used RE simulation software will be analyzed to study financial feasibility of solar PV based water pumping system comparing to Diesel based system assuming a practical project in Bangladesh (a Bangladeshi farm named “Rajshahi Krishi Khamer”). As a result energy is being consumed at a high rate which will finish the energy resources within a few decades. To mitigate the continuously increasing demand it is necessary to estimate the energy reserved in Bangladesh, usage rate and predict the probable time to be used that non-renewable energy. Bangladesh has different sources of renewable energy such as solar energy, wind energy, biomass, biogas, hydroelectric resources and tidal energy. So huge amount energy can be produced from these resources that will help to reserve the fossil fuel, non-renewable energy for the future and our country will be self-dependent for long time. This research paper will show the present energy scenario, necessity of renewable energy and also the future prospect of that energy.
