The successes achieved during the campaign were due to Alexander’s imaginative policy towards the Sogdians, which could be at times brutal or accommodating, his sharp sense of cultural and situational awareness, and his building campaign in Sogdiana that would create a makeover of that civilization. Alexander’s legacy is evidenced through coinage, the history of the colonies he planted in the region, and the remembrance and cultural references within Uzbek society today.
