Araştırmada, makarnalık buğdaylarda Gökgöl x Erzincan kombinasyonuna ait geri melez generasyonları başakta tane ağırlığı, bin tane ağırlığı ve protein oranı yönünden, Gökgöl x Atseke-4 kombinasyonuna ait geri melez generasyonları sadece protein oranı yönünden, Japiga x Gökgöl kombinasyonuna ait geri melez generasyonları ise bitki boyu, başakta tane ağırlığı, bin tane ağırlığı ve protein oranı yönünden, atalarından yüksek ve istatistiki olarak farklı değerler vermişlerdir. Ekmeklik buğdaylarda ise, Kate- A- 1 x Momtchil kombinasyonuna ait geri melez generasyonları protein oranı yönünden, Orso x 1435 kombinasyonuna ait geri melez generasyonları ise bitki boyu, bin tane ağırlığı ve sedimentasyon değeri yönünden atalarının her ikisinden de yü...

Cost route approach using two sets of structured questionnaires were administered to a purposively sampled 120 yam based farmers (six credit users and six non credit users from ten major yam producing villages in the state) constituting 60 credit users and 60 non credit users. Data analysis consisted of statistical and econometric tools. The result revealed that farmers within the age range of 46-74 and above were engage in yam production in the area of study with majority (80.0%) of the non credit users and (80.0%) credit user. A good number (86% for non credit users and 83% for credit users) of them had formal education with large household size of 5-15 family members. The two groups of farmers operated under the same existing technology; both farmers were factor biased or non-neutral in their production function i.e the two groups of farmers differ signi...

In the experiment, the effects of the mycorrhiza application on the Plant Height, Stem Diameter, Leaf Nu mber, Flag Leaf Length, Flag Leaf Width, Number of grains per plant, 100 - seed weight and protein percent of the varieties were observed. Accordingly, it was observed that the mycorrhiza application increases the Plant Height, Stem Diameter, Leaf Number, Fl ag Leaf Width, Number of grains per plant, 100 - seed weight and protein percent values for the varieties, while the increase in the Flag Leaf Height was deemed to be statistically insignificant. It is believed that the mycorrhiza application will be benefic ial from the perspective of enhancing plant development both in natural and agricultural ecosystems.

The effect of nitrogen doses on dry matter distribution and nitrogen uptake of the plant in maturity periods of oat (Avena sativa L.). Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., 19: 1292-1297 This study was carried out in test ground of Uludag University Vocational School of Technical Sciences. The test used Randomized Block Design with 3 replications and Seydisehir forage oat cultivar. 4 different doses of nitrogen (0, 5, 10, 15 kg N da-1) and ammonium sulfate fertilizer containing 21% N and ammonium nitrate fertilizer containing 26% N were used. Plant specimens were collected in 3 replications in milk stage (MS), dough stage (DS) and physiological stages (PS) of the plant. It was found that the lowest total dry weight (DW) was obtained in PS, while the highest total DW was obtained in DS. In all organs excluding the grains, Dry matter (DM) amount was found to be the highest in MS; however, it decreased in next stages of maturity. It was found that applied nitrogen...

It is of crucial importance that the sewage sludge is removed with environmental-friendly methods for the protection of the environment. In this scope, the waste water sewage sludge is used in agricultural areas, forest areas, parks-gardens, recreational grounds, recreation of areas, urban landscaping as well as in arboriculture, and in growing ornamental plants as organic fertilizers, germination media and growth media. In ornamental plant growth, which has an economical value, the use of sewage sludge helps to decrease the high production costs and thus contributes to the economy of the country creating a new alternative field in removing the sewage sludge.

Determination of some agronomic traits of winter wheat and spring wheat lines of dif-ferent backcross generations growing in southern Marmara conditions. Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., 18: 36-41 This study was conducted on the testing fields of Uludag University Research and Application center. The lines belonging to the combinations of spring wheat and winter wheat examined during testing period were selected from backcross program conducted for supplying semi-tolerant to Puccinia spp. Some agronomic traits of lines such as plant height, spike length, spikelet per spike, seed number per spike, seed weight per spike in BC 1 , BC 2 and BC 3 generations were examined. As a result of testing, the plant height, spike length, spikelet per spike, seed number per spike and seed weight per spike increased in the proceeding backcross generations of winter wheat and spring wheat lines.

Plant height, spike length, seed number of spike, weight of spike seed and 1000 seed weight of 10 cross combination were examined. Consequently, plant height, spike length and 1000 seed weight additive and dominance variance were statistically significant whereas over-dominance was detected in other examined characteristics. INTRODUCTION Selection is one of the biggest parts of the programmes, which aim to augment the profit and the quality in plant and animal amelioration. Selection of the proper genotypes from a population and variation source and the success to produce them as a type mainly depends on the characteristics of the variation in the selected population. Since the ancestors transmit their seeds not to genotypes but to genes, the fixation in forward selection generations is po...
