El bosque de oyamel (Abies religiosa) reúne a una mezcla de especies que realizan el intercambio... more El bosque de oyamel (Abies religiosa) reúne a una mezcla de especies que realizan el intercambio de CO2 con la atmósfera y permiten la formación temprana de un reservorio de carbono; en ese contexto, el objetivo del presente estudio consistió en determinar los coeficientes de carbono para los taxa pertenecientes a los estratos arbustivo y herbáceo del bosque de oyamel del Parque Nacional El Chico. Se seleccionaron 24 especies de arbustos y 17 de herbáceas; de cada una se recolectaron cinco ejemplares y se tomaron estructuras de sus partes aéreas para integrar una muestra compuesta, misma que se secó y pulverizó para analizarla con el equipo Toc Solids Analyzer. Los resultados mostraron diferencias significativas (P≤0.01) entre arbustivas y herbáceas y entre ambos grupos de especies; Juniperus monticola registró el mayor coeficiente de carbono (0.54) y Senecio platanifolius el menor (0.41). Se efectuó un estudio en el Parque Nacional El Chico, Hidalgo, con el objetivo de estimar labioma... more Se efectuó un estudio en el Parque Nacional El Chico, Hidalgo, con el objetivo de estimar labiomasa y el carbono aéreo almacenado en los árboles muertos en pie, en los árboles adultos vivos yen el renuevo establecido en forma natural de Abies religiosa “oyamel” después de 12 años de ocurridoun incendio forestal de tipo superficial que afectó 30,34 ha. Se realizó un inventario forestal de 15 sitioscirculares de 1000 m2 distribuidos de forma sistemática, para medir las variables de diámetro normal yaltura. Para determinar la biomasa se utilizó el valor de densidad de la madera de oyamel (360 kg/m3)y para el coeficiente de carbono se tomaron muestras que fueron analizadas con el equipo Solids TOCAnalyzer®, obteniendo un valor de 0,45. La evaluación incluyó el período de finales del invierno de 1999 a inicios de la primavera del 2000, en el ejido “El Reparo” en Zacualtipán, Hidalgo, en un bosque de Pinus patula que fue afectado por un incendio en la primavera de 1998. Los datos indicaron que existe un incremento sustancial de radiación en los sitios quemados en comparación con aquellos sitios no quemados y que la incidencia de luz es homogénea a lo largo de la pendiente. El fuego no modificó la textura, pH, concentración del nitrógeno inorgánico, potasio, magnesio, hierro, cobre, zinc, manganeso y de la capacidad de intercambio catiónico.
