In this study, we discuss the case of a 67-year-old female operated case of the left modified radical mastectomy in 2012. After 9 years, she had recurrence on the right side and diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer Stage 3 B. She developed lymphoedema on the same side for which she was referred to physiotherapy for further management. Along with radiation treatment, physiotherapy intervention such as complete decongestive therapy (CDT) for lymphoedema was initiated for 10 days which included multilayer lymphoedema bandaging, manual lymphatic drainage and exercise therapy. At the beginning, volume difference was 1688 ml then on the 5th day, it was 1133 ml, and on the 10th day, it was 802 ml noted. There was significant reduction in the volume of the involved limb that led to improvement in the score of sleep quality and quality of life (QOL). The major aims of CDT are to improve lymph circulation and to prevent lymphatic stasis which improves the QOL and sleep quality. Patient education and counselling along with home programme of bandaging played a major role in the recovery of the patient. CDT plays an important role in reducing lymphoedema and improving the sleep quality and QOL in metastatic breast cancer patient.

Various multiand trans-disciplinary treatment options have been reported in the literature to maximize function and return to preinjury level. The healthcare pathways in management of people with CRPS require large facilities and ef icient organisation of professionals which are currently missing in low-resource settings in urban India. The objective of this case report is to support a potential combination of myofascial release techniques and intramuscular stimulation using dry needling to improve outcomes in an individual with CRPS in an urban tertiary care hospital. A 48-year-old man diagnosed with CRPS-I following traumatic radial head dislocation was treated with a structured plan over a period of 9 months with a combined therapy that included Myofascial Release (MFR) techniques, Ultrasound guided Dry Needling (USGDN) and conventional physiot...

The methods for correction of this deformity use a relatively arbitrary method for estimation and application of tension to the transferred tendon. The present paper outlines an objective and simple method of judging the tension required in these transferred tendon slips.

Data was analyzed using repeated measure analysis of variance test (ANOVA). Responsiveness to clinical change was calculated using Standardized response mean (SRM). SRM values of MHQ were higher than DASH during all the three periods [(2.68; 2.07; 3.20)] > [(1.98; 1.50; 2.40)]. Our results indicate that both MHQ and DASH show large SRM values (> 0.8) hence both are highly responsive during a 6 month follow up after distal radius fracture treatment, clarifying the applicability of both outcome measures related to outcome studies of distal radius fracture. However, MHQ m...

The research question focuses on understanding the level of knowledge and utilization of these settings among physiotherapists. Methods This study utilized a survey-based observational cross-sectional design. A questionnaire was developed based on a literature review and underwent peer review for face validity. Physiotherapists actively involved in patient management were selected and asked to complete the survey. The collected data was analyzed to assess the awareness and utilization of digital accessibility settings. Results The study collected 100 questionnaire responses from physiotherapists, with a majority of 85% being female and an average age of 24.68 years. The findings revealed that Bold Text was the most commonly used Android feature, while Action Blocks had the lowest awareness ...

COVID-19 causes many sequels in the respiratory system and frequently presents with dyspnoea, fatigue, loss of strength, reduced functional capacity and sometimes severe multi-organ affection. Physiotherapy interventions through tele-rehabilitation have acquired a fundamental role in the recovery of the functions and quality of life. Pulmonary tele-rehabilitation which is done in this case report study includes patient education, respiratory care, exercise training, ambulatory program with supplementary oxygen, strengthening, endurance training and energy conservation. All these interventions play an important role in patent’s treatment protocol from hospital discharge to resuming work by assisting in weaning of supplementary oxygen, improving functional capacity of lungs and thus facilitating recovery. Rehabilitation of COVID-19 caus...

This study was carried out in a post-COVID-19 patient population at a government tertiary care hospital. The study was carried out according to the guidelines given by the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons. The methodology consisted of 3 Phases. Forward and backward translation, expert committee review, and usability testing on the participants who were asked to fill out the Gujarati version of the PCFS scale twice in Phase 1, 2, and 3 respectively.30 participants, both males, and females participated in the study. Cronbach’s α was used to calculate the internal consistency of the scale. The ICC was 0.99, which interprets as a very high correlation and stability of the scale. The Cronbach’s alpha was calculated for a population of 30 participants. On test 1 the value for Cronbach’s Alpha (ɑ1) was 0.821 and on the second test, the value was (ɑ2) 0.866. A linguistically and practically identical Gujarati PCFS Scale was formulated after a careful and systematic process, which offers a viable and trustworthy method for assessing the functionality of post-COVID-19 patients.

The current study intended to assess this parameter in physiotherapy students and to explore whether an association exists between learning strategies and academic performance. Materials and Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional survey was carried out over a period of 6 months in five Physiotherapy colleges. 343 students participated after giving informed consent. The learning strategies section of the Motivational Strategies of Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) was used to assess learning strategies. Overall percentage score in the previous year’s final University exam was considered as a measure of academic performance. A correlation matrix was used to investigate the relationship between the two parameters, and a multivariate regression analysis was carried out to create a model to predict academic performance based on their learni...

Varieties of conservative treatments are suggested, including quadriceps strengthening, patellar taping, stretching, electrotherapy and biofeedback with no single intervention being most effective. Hence, comparison between the two techniques patellar taping and the conventional method was undertaken to determine their effectiveness with respect to pain and function. Methods: 20 subjects diagnosed with unilateral PFPS knee were randomly selected and allocated into two group- Group A (Mc Connell taping and vastus medialis obliques (VMO exercises) and Group B (Short Wave Diathermy and VMO exercises). Treatment was continued for two weeks with pre and post Pain and Function recorded. Students t test was used for statistical analy-sis.
