This paper provides an overview of research studies conducted through the review on the responses of 1000 students and young graduates of private and public universities of Bangladesh. In particular, this paper probes into the acute problems exist in Bangladesh Police and tries to link those problems with the issue of lack of interest showed by the local graduates to join into the police workforce. Thus, the research findings support this notion and the survey results are discussed in terms of the employee acquisition techniques for the police force wishing to obtain, retain and maintain a workforce of dynamic, young and talented people as police officers of Bangladesh.

The discussion concentrates on philosophical positivism from a social science standpoint, firstly, its origin and development during the eighteenth century, then secondly, the development of the Vienna Circle, and lastly, the influence of the late nineteenth century’s postmodernism has on positivism. Rather than focusing on the distinct recurrent anticipations of positivism of ancient ideologies of philosophy, the paper describes the theoretical understandings of positivism in sociological perspective. Then it highlights the tenets of positivism developed by different sociologists and philosophers. Lastly, by probing into those tenets and methodological implications of different positivist approaches it critically analyses the extent to which this ideology aids our understanding of the concurrent social world.

In this paper, importance of PMS in HPWS has been discussed briefly with the light of previously done scholarly works. Then the paper draws attention on Bangladesh’s perspective of first line managers’ role as strategic leaders in major telecommunication companies, (which are considered as HPWS) in implementing PMS. To do this, quantitative data from handful of major telecommunication companies operating in Bangladesh have been collected and the whole concept has been explained with aid of a model.

The study builds on empirical and theoretical examinations by collecting data via questionnaire from 200 local companies and 52 MNCs. Investigating the prevalence and pattern of HRM practices, this paper finds that local organizations need more of a make-over in relation to the adoption of a more appropriate and strategic PMS in comparison to the MNCs operating in the country.

This paper is an exploratory case study that focuses on how this plastic manufacturing company reaches out directly to customers through their unique supply chain concept - disintermediation. Using case study methodology, we conclude that introduction of disintermediation in its supply chain management has mostly made 'RFL Best Buy', 'RFL Exclusive' and 'RFL Plastics Online Shop' the future of RFL Plastics, since it eliminates intermediaries and allows more managerial control over products. Moreover, given the non-perishable nature of products, RFL applies four different approaches in its supply chain, initiating from traditional hardware shops to the recent online shops. Disintermediation approach has therefore brought radical changes in the scale, dynamism and structure of the entire organisation of RFL. Although a single case study is the limitation here, discussion and conclusions are addressed for this article.

Ferdous Custom Made Tailors Fabrics Fashions (hereinafter referred to as Ferdous Tailors) is a privately owned custom made tailoring chain-shop in Bangladesh. It has been successfully operating and designing bespoke clothing since its inception more than three decades ago. This case study identifies the business nature and strategies of Ferdous Tailors, their growth, current competitors, and challenges they are facing to ensure a sustainable business practice. It had several competitive advantages that resulted in an exponential trajectory of growth, but gradually it slowed down for the big challenges it is currently facing. The case further demonstrates that even though Ferdous Tailors was a pioneer in this business, success is extremely hard to sustain unless the focus is not given on where it plans to go and how it will go ther...

Specifically, the notion that QDA involves non-scientific style of data collection and data analysis which comprises with coding, sorting and sifting of qualitative data, is frequently referred by many quantitative researchers to challenge or weaken the robustness and reliability of qualitative research. This paper aims to address this debate by scrutinising the nature and quality of the methods of qualitative research. By highlighting the philosophical stance of QDA, this paper tackles the criticisms of qualitative research, and also critically evaluates different approaches and perspectives of QDA. The paper finally goes on to justify that, QDA with its significantly broader attributes and extensive research capacity, in fact, involves more than the coding, sorting and sifting of qualitative data.
