Two of the weapon sacrifices are Danish, Illerup-Ådal and Nydam. Two are Swedish, Finnestorp and Skedemosse. This period was very insecure, with a lot of wars between the people who lived in different regions in Scandinavia. Those wars have left finds to the archaeologists of our time. The ancient warriors sacrificed the war trophies to their gods in a sacred ceremony. The war trophies were destroyed before the sacrifice. The ancient gods of Scandinavia played a central role for the people that lived during this time in our history. People sacrificed different things to the gods, things, animals and sometimes people. The most distinguished sacrifice was a human or a horse. People could sacrifice if they wanted to thank the gods for something or ask for forgiveness. People usually sacrificed in lakes or bogs. The essay shows that there are some differences between the Swedish and Danish weapon sacrifices. There are a lot of horse bones among the finds in the two Swedish weapon sacrifices. The archaeologists have found a lot of bog corpses in Skedemosse. In Nydam they have found three sacrificed boats. There are also some similarities between the weapon sacrifices. All four weapon sacrifices are located in regions with a large population. It seems like the sacrifice rituals where common at all the weapon sacrifices. It also seems like the people have sorted the objects before they sacrificed them. One major difference between the weapon sacrifices is that the sacrificing decreased during the 500-century in Denmark and not until 200 years later in Sweden. This indicate a new order in the society.
