The success or failure in a global context will be determined by its managerial capabilities, and the development of globally sophisticated managers is a major challenge in order to obtain global competitiveness (Hax, 1989). With knowledge & experience, they have the advantage to recognize the opportunities in the market.

Objective: The objective of this study to determine the factors that influenced the preferences for teamwork among Gen Y employees in Malaysia. Understanding the preferences of Gen Y may be found useful in improving their involvement in teamwork. Results: By using the frequency analysis, reliability analysis, descriptive analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis, the results show that collectivism, skill utilization and trust in co-workers were significant factors affecting Gen Y preference for teamwork. Conclusion: It can be conclude that all the independent variables were positively related to the teamwork preferences. By understanding the key dimension that associated with teamwork, the organization can broaden insight into the best strategies to enhance and encourage the Gen Y to work in a team as t...

Methodology/Technique – This study integrated two models namely TOE (Technological, Organizational, and Environmental) model, and TAM model that were empirically tested among the healthcare organizations in Malaysia to achieve the aim of the study. Questionnaire strategy was employed to collect the data from key personnel in Selangor hospitals. Findings – The achieved results revealed that the most important critical factors are perceived ease of use, compatibility, relative advantages, managers attitude and organizational readiness. Novelty – For academia, this study can be used as reference for future research in this subject and as for practitioners; this study identifies key factors for hospitals to make an adoption decision toward home grown medical technology. Type of Paper: Empirical.

In order to achieve its goals and sustain in the global market, a firm needs to invest in human capital. Malaysia has shown various efforts in improving the quality of human capital; however, those efforts are still inadequate. In order to increase the industrial production in Malaysia, a firm needs to hire more skilled workers. Hence, this study investigated the short and long-run relationship between human capital and industrial productivity in Malaysia. Using a time series data spanned through 1982-2015, this study analysed the cause and effect of human capital towards industrial productivity. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, appropriate econometrics techniques such as co-integration and error correction Model (ECM) were applied. The study found that the total expenditure on education and gross capital formation has a short run effect of the industrial productivity. While labour w...

Such interaction is highly significant throughout the learning process due to its role in enabling student participation and learning knowledge integration. This paper presents the option of teaching pedagogy for statistics teaching via project-based learning. This teaching method conduces cognitive development during the learning process by fostering active learning as it implements the application as opposed to the memorisation of statistical concepts. Therefore, a project was carried out with underpinned a common topic by all groups of students. The approach was incorporated in an undergraduate Statistical Methods class consisted of 34 business economics students in which they were to evaluate the learning process at the end of the course. Data collection consisted of closed-form and open-ended questions...

The utilization of fast-paced technology with E-learning also allows for a more flexible and convenient learning process. E-learning platforms can be accessed anywhere as long as there is an internet connection, including at home, the workplace, restaurants or while travelling. This allows for the benefit of distance learning. As such, the current study aims to examine the factor effectiveness of E-learning based on three variables, namely technology, instructors’ characteristics and students’ characteristics and their impact on distance learning. The education system has greatly evolved from the use of apparatus such as chalk and blackboards to the modern use of projectors to conduct lessons. In the current age, E-learning will have an effect on both instructors and teaching technology, aside from the students themselves. As an example, students are expected to know...

The data was collected from respondents who are from the generation Y demographic and actively looking for jobs. The respondents must possess some experience in using SNS when job hunting. The data was then gathered and analyzed using partial least square (PLS) which encompasses the measurement and structural models of the study. The findings revealed that three of the constructs as applied in TAM are statistically significant to behavioural intention. The three factors that influenced the job seekers’ intention to use SNSs as a job search tool are; perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and privacy concerns. All these factors are elements which contribute to and have a significant relationship with job seekers’ intention to use SNSs, as verified using PLS data analysis. The recruiters or employers who intend to adopt SNSs in the recruit...

The primary question this study sought to answer was: How does absorptive capacity affect innovation performance? More specifically, the study examines the relationships of absorptive capacity dimensions and innovation performance. Also, the role of environmental dynamism, as a moderator on absorptive capacity-innovation performance relationship was also investigated. Absorptive capacity is defined as a firm’s capability to complete the entire process from acquiring, disseminating and exploiting knowledge for commercial ends. This study focuses on three dimensions only; knowledge acquisition, knowledge dissemination and knowledge exploitation. The innovation performance concentrates on incremental innovation which includes product, service, method of production, market, sources of supply and ways of organizing. The study used a survey research method and regr...

Though SMEs are facing with lots of challenges in globalized environment, they have great potential to promote domestic-led growth in the existing industries. Knowledge-based views (KBV) believe that firm's success is not measured on how firm overcome its scarcity problem but on how firm use its ability to learn and use learning more efficiently than others. This paper focuses on knowledge absorptive capacity and its mediating role between owners' prior knowledge and operational performance in small medium enterprises. Using data from 170 manufacturing SMEs in Malaysia, research was conducted through self-administered interview with owner or manager of SMEs. The results showed positive and significant relationship between owners' prior knowledge and operational performance; between owners' prior knowledge and absorptive capacity; between absorptive capacity and operational performance. Further, results indicated that the absorptive capacity plays a partial mediator role in the relationship between owners' prior knowledge and operational performance.
