Estudio de las propiedades mecánicas del sistema óseo Los estudios adelantados fueron realizados ... more Estudio de las propiedades mecánicas del sistema óseo Los estudios adelantados fueron realizados para el área de 810-mecánica, tratando de que su desarrollo fuera lo más científico posible; y aplicado al estudio del sistema óseo del hombre, ya que él posee un material que tiene un comportamiento que hace posible las aplicaciones de conceptos mecánicos y físicos de la Ingenlerla para su análisis. 14 Ingeniería e Investigación La finalidad del presente informe es introducir los es-tudios realizados en el área de biomecánica. Ella ve la necesidad de conocer las propiedades mecánicas de los huesos, para construir prótesis que ayuden a la recuperación de las personas en caso de presentar fracturas o daños criticas: además de aportar soluciones en el rediseño de medios de locomoción, donde se presentan gran cantidad de accidentes, con el fin de tener el cuerpo más protegido. El presente estudio se basa en la información disponible yen la experiencia personal de la determinación de pro-piedades mecánicas para materiales metá1icos o de in-geniería. Con lo anterior se procede al análisis de las propiedades mecánicas de los huesos humanos de una forma general; se elaboran curvas de esfuerzo-deforma-ción mediante el uso de deformímetros mecánicos y eléctricos; se determinan el módulo elástico, el módulo de rigidez y otras, dejándose una base sólida para estu-dios posteriores en el área. Es bien sabido que en el cuerpo humano se presentan fracturas por la acción de cargas externas que generan dentro de los huesos esfuerzos de tracción, compresión y corte de carácter estático y dinámico, las fracturas pue-den ser críticas y para su "arreglo" se necesitan de trans-plantes de hueso, injertos platina, prótesis etc. Además, el parecido que muchos huesos tienen con los sistemas de palanca, columnas de sustentación, arcos, vigas y puntales diseñados por el hombre, conducen inevitablemente a la aplicación de conceptos mecánicos o de ingeniería para su estudio. Los huesos no solo son análogos a tales estructuras en su configuración externa, sino que también lo son en sus funciones. La presencia en el esqueleto de formas tubulares "dlseñadas' bajo el concepto de igualdad de resistencia, puntales en forma de H y otras; resaltan la alta tecnología que cumple el esqueleto humano, dentro del concepto de una buena máquina mecánica.
