Psychological capital was assessed as a mediator in the proposed model. Data were collected from 112 mothers recruited from autism institutes in two cities of Pakistan. Analysis was done using partial least square structural equation modeling. The findings revealed that social support and psychological capital had a significant direct relationship with life satisfaction and perceived stress. Only psychological capital was related to parental satisfaction and negative affect. We found that psychological capital mediated the path between social support and all four dimensions of well-being outcomes. Our study shows that the informal social support enhances the multiple dimension of well-being of mothers of autistic children by enhancing their personality resource of psychological capital.

Participants from Pakistan (N= 323) and Malaysia (N= 343) completed an online survey. Samples from both countries were analyzed separately and compared for measurement model invariance and difference in path coefficients. Data screening, frequency analysis, and common method bias were analyzed using IBM-SPSS-25®. Partial least squares approach to SEM using SMART-PLS 3 software was adopted to analyze the measurement model, structural model, importance-performance analysis, and mediation testing. Our finding showed that model explained higher variance in preventive behavior for Pakistani samples compared to Malaysian samples. Perceived benefits followed by perceived threats were the two most important predictors of preventive behaviors in both countries. The perceived barrier was an important predictor for the Pakistani sampl...

A special education center was selected for this study. The sample was composed of nine children with cerebral palsy, and the pretest-posttest design was employed. Kinesthetic sensitivity was assessed using tactile and pressure cues. The Slosson Drawing Coordination Test (SDCT) measured the cognitive ability of the participants. Teachers were briefed about the study and trained on the intervention exercises. The intervention consisted of exercises performed with equipment including therapy balls, balloons, hammers, shoe boxes, towels, clay and cloth pegs. Prior to the intervention, the pretest was administered. After six weeks of the intervention, the posttest measured kinesthetic sensitivity and cognitive ability again. Results indicated a statistically significant increase of kinetic sensitivity and cognition in participant.

Handwriting is essential for the school going children. The study in hand examined the effect of Visual Motor Integration (VMI) Training on legibility of Urdu handwriting in 4th and 5th grade students. There were 134 participants taken who have poor handwriting and VMI from general education schools. The research was conducted as an experimental study. Pretest-Posttest Two Group Designed was used in the study. The students were divided into experimental and controlled groups. The selected students in experimental group were imparted six weeks training in order to improve VMI whereas the second was a control group without any intervention. It was observed that the students in experimental group showed significant improvement in legibility of handwriting as compared to control group. The male did not outperform as compared to the female respondents and vice versa. Concisely...

We investigated the effect of fear of terrorism, state negative affect, and emotional support on students’ psychological distress. Low psychological distress represented higher levels of psychological adjustment. Data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire from 121 internationals students of 18 different countries enrolled in a public university of Lahore city with a mean age of 21.7 years. A two-stage analysis was conducted by variance-based structural equation modeling technique in SMART PLS 3.2 software. Adequate convergent and discriminant validity of the latent constructs were ensured, and no evidence was found for common method bias. The results of structural model revealed that fear of terrorism is a positive and significant predictor of student’s psychological distress, which is fully mediated by state negative affect. Emotional support was negatively related to psychological distress and moderated the relationship between state negative affect and psychological distress. Conditional process modeling using process macro revealed that emotional support also moderated the indirect effect of fear of terrorism on distress mediated by negative affect. A significant contribution of this research is to investigate fear of terrorism as a stressor in international student’s acculturation research. Negative emotional state plays an intermediary role in relating fear with psychological wellbeing of international students while emotional support can be a potent coping resource. Several implications, limitation and future research recommendations are also discussed.

A significant relationship between body image satisfaction and self-confidence was hypothesized. The sample of the study consisted of 100 students with visual impairment, 50 males and 50 females. The study was descriptive in nature with a cross sectional design. The questionnaire consisted of 14 items related to body image satisfaction and 20 items related to self-confidence. Data was collected through face to face interaction. The results were drawn on the basis of responses given by the respondents. The results of correlation and chi-square revealed that there was a positive relationship between body image satisfaction and self-confidence. Male and female visually impaired students have same level of body image satisfaction. Visually impaired students from all these Socioeconomic Status have also the same level of body image.

This study adopted the health belief model to propose five types of health perceptions as a mediator between trust in government and the public's voluntary adoption of recommended preventions for COVID-19.Design/methodology/approachTo collect primary quantitative data, a web survey was conducted using snowball sampling from Malaysia (N = 343) and Pakistan (N = 321). Measures were adopted from the existing studies. Structural equation modelling-partial least square through SmartPLS was used to analyse the proposed framework and hypotheses testing.FindingsResults revealed that trust is a significant predictor of perceived barriers, benefits and self-efficacy in both countries. The study was designed on the qualitative paradigm of research. The sample was constituted of five parents and twenty therapists out of which twenty-eight were speech therapists, six ABA therapists, and six Occupational therapists. A Snowball sampling technique was used to locate the respondents. Two Interview Guides were developed – one for the therapists and one for the parents, and the Observational Checklist was the tools for data collection. The interview guide contained questions about their knowledge about COVID-19, the care they must take of the place in terms of hygiene, handling of the children at the workplace, services being rendered to the clients, and changes they had carried out in their services since the outbreak. The Observation Checklist was based on the parameters given by the WHO for the safety and hygiene measures...

Good or legible handwriting remained a constant task for the teachers and students during the whole day. The teachers recognize the legible handwriting at a gland due to their routine work in the schools. The teacher’s criterion that lies behind their decision of good handwriting was a question to answer in this study. The purpose of this study was to identify the components of legibility from the teachers’ perspective. Referencing handwriting experts and a literature review, key variables were categorized and organized onto a 5-point Likert Scale questionnaire. Teachers’ responses to the various legibility criteria were then tallied with regards to primary school students. Mean, standard deviation, exploratory factor analysis and path diagram statistics were applied to the ordinal data. It was concluded that twelve components were important for the legibility of handwriting of primary school students. T...

Patients with schizophrenia interpret reality and verbal communication in an abnormal way. They experience great difficulty in building and maintaining of social relationships within society. They also experience barriers in communication and motivation that hinder their readiness for treatment. The willingness of patients with schizophrenia to be treated improves mental illness, social support and other health-related issues. The main purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between social support and willingness for treatment in patients with Schizophrenia.MethodsThe qualitative research approach was used to solicit and capture more in-depth information from participants. The research design was phenomenological in nature. A cross-sectional survey method was employed. The sample consisted of twenty female patients diagnosed with schizophrenia, seven psychiatrists, and seven psychologists. A semi-structured interview guide was developed to collect the data. The interview guide covered three themes. The first theme included four questions for patients with schizophrenia. The second theme consisted of six questions for the psychiatrists and the third theme included two questions for the psychologists. Interview data were analysed through frame workanalysis.ResultsThe results of the study showed that social support plays an essential role in the improvement of patients with schizophrenia. Psychiatrists with the help of medication and therapies reduce the negativity and anxiety level of patients and motivate patients to accept treatment. Through counseling, psychologists help patients with schizophrenia build social skills such as the ability to engage in eye contact.ConclusionIt is revealed that the social support is closely related to the willingness for treatment in patients with schizophrenia. Therefore, social support is recommended in the course of treatment of patients with schizophrenia.
