In the scope of my dissertation "Empfindungsschrift" Die affektiven Phänomene und Ich- ... more In the scope of my dissertation "Empfindungsschrift" Die affektiven Phänomene und Ich- Sensationen der Kunstfiguren in einigen Hörspielen von Friederike Mayröcker , I took up a topic of Prof. Elisabeth von Samsonow's lecture "Ich bin die Vielen", held during the summer term 2009 at the Akademie für Bildende Kunst (academy of fine arts) in Vienna. Samsonow focuses on the literary and social situation at the turn of the 20th century; she forms the thesis, that a development was started at the turn of the 20th century, that was revived in 1968 and manifests itself in the complete works of Friederike Mayröcker. I have analysed some of Friederike Mayröcker's radio plays regarding phenomena like ego-sensation, depersonalisation, hysteria and neurasthenia. All of these phenomena can also be detected in Hugo von Hofmannsthal's early work. Like Friederike Mayröcker, Hofmannsthal has an intensive relation to the fine arts.
