By inspiring me in the ideas of Aries (1981), Manson (2002, Darnton (1988), among other authors, it is possible to affirm that we can verify the historical construction of new sensibilities around the children, which were gradual and systematically separated from the adults world. In these games, the toys, the popular tales, the amusements in general, were disciplined and rationalized. When I explain this movement, I show how this playful universe was inserted in the educational treaties, especially in Comenius, Locke and Rousseau. I emphasize the gender relations in the playful practices and conclude that the gender construction is historic-cultural and not natural, as most of philosophers proposed at that period of time. Keyword : modernity, childhood, games, toys, gender.
