Por meio de uma Pesquisa Descritiva foram avaliadas quatro turmas (T1, T2, T3, T4), num total de 116 criancas, 62 do sexo masculino (M) e 54 do sexo feminino (F) com idade entre 7 e 9 anos, estudantes do terceiro ano do ensino fundamental de uma escola publica do Municipio de Sao Caetano do Sul-SP. Separadamente por turmas, nao encontramos nenhuma diferenca significativa (p <0,05) na idade, IMC, altura, peso e velocidade entre as turmas, com excecao entre as turmas T3 e T2, para a variavel velocidade. Ao considerar o genero, os meninos foram mais velozes que as meninas, porem este nao foi o fator que acarretou o T3 ser mais veloz que o T2, sendo que a divisao entre meninos e meninas estava equivalente, ao considerar as turmas. Our purpose was to verify the effects of inorganic nitrate combined to a short training program o... more Our purpose was to verify the effects of inorganic nitrate combined to a short training program on 10-km running time-trial (TT) performance, maximum and average power on a Wingate test, and lactate concentration ([La−]) in recreational runners. Sixteen healthy participants were divided randomly into two groups: Nitrate (n = 8) and placebo (n = 8). The experimental group ingested 750 mg/day (~12 mmol) of nitrate plus 5 g of resistant starch, and the control group ingested 6 g of resistant starch, for 30 days. All variables were assessed at baseline and weekly over 30 days. Training took place 3x/week. The time on a 10-km TT decreased significantly (p < 0.001) in all timepoints compared to baseline in both groups, but only the nitrate group was faster in week 2 compared to 1. The present study aimed to investigate the impact of a 6-month multicomponent exercise program (M... more The present study aimed to investigate the impact of a 6-month multicomponent exercise program (MCEP) on physical function, cognition, and hemodynamic parameters of elderly normotensive (NTS) and hypertensive (HTS) osteoarthritis patients. A total of 99 elderly osteoarthritis patients (44 NTS and 55 HTS) were recruited and submitted to functional, cognitive, and hemodynamic evaluations before and after six months of a MCEP. The program of exercise was performed twice a week at moderate intensity. The physical exercises aggregated functional and walking exercises. Results indicate that 6 months of MCEP were able to improve one-leg stand and mobility (walking speeds) of osteoarthritis patients regardless of hypertension. A questionnaire with 14 questions was applied, tracing the behavioral profile in relation to physical exercises before and during isolation, interpreted through descriptive analysis, and the groups were compared through Mann-Whitman’s statistics. The drop in the percentage of active individuals with or without medication occurred when comparing the scenarios before and during quarantine.
