Bone scintigraphy, which is the most sensitive method in the prediction of Pagetoid lesions, usually shows similar patterns of tracer uptake as well as bone expansion in both of the diseases. We present here a case of prostate cancer that is coexisting with Paget’s disease. Bone scan showed widespread increased uptake, but the first prostate biopsy was reported as benign. Therefore bone biopsy was performed from the ischium of the left hemipelvis and revealed Paget’s disease. The second prostate biopsy was reported as malignant and Tc-99m MIBI whole body scan was performed to distinguish the metastatic bone lesions from the pagetoid lesions but it was revealed abnormal uptake in all regions with increased osteoblastic activity in bone scintigraphy. One factor might be lack of demand since the levels of knowledge and awareness among patients who are eligible for CPR seem to be insufficient. It is aimed to investigate the level of awareness and knowledge of CPR among patients with cardiopulmonary problems. Cross-sectional survey study. Outpatient. Knowledge regarding CPR was assessed by questionnaires given to 690 patients recruited in seven university hospitals and six training and research hospitals in which either comprehensive or limited CPR services are available. Patients who have cardiopulmonary problems Of the patients, 34.7% were given information on CPR by healthcare staff, and 25.3% reported that their source of information was physicians. Although 49.9% of the patients knew that they needed to exercise for their cardiac/pulmonary problems, only 23.4% and 32.1% of those were awa...

Material and Methods: 28 patients (45 hands) which has been diagnosed idiopathic CTS with the electrophysiological studies were included in the study. For treatment wrist traction device for the application of traction (C-TRACTM brand) was used on all patients. All the patients have been carried out with the US two times before and after the treatment.US examinations were performed with a 12-MHz linear probe (Toshiba, Aplio500, Tokyo, Japan) device. In all cases, the measured distance between the bones carpal tunnel at the level of the input and output measurements and the fact whether there is a difference between the median nerve cross-sectional area measurements, were assessed by the groups...

Fifteen participants at least six-months post stroke and able to ambulate between 0.4 and 0.8m/s and 20 participants without neurological conditions completed all phases of the study and were included in the analysis. The non-disabled group served as a comparison for describing changes in kinetic symmetry. The stroke group completed 24 sessions of body-weight supported treadmill training over 8-weeks with 20 minutes of total walking per session. Bilateral 3-dimensional motion analysis and gait speed were assessed 1-week before training (pre-test), 1-week after training (post-test) and 6-months after training (retention) in a repeated measures design. Relative propulsion of the paretic leg and relative positive work of the hip, knee and ankle joints of both legs were calculated to evaluate symmetry of kinetic forces. Statistically significant differences in relative propulsion and positive joint work within the paretic and non-paretic legs were not found over time. The stroke group significantly improved gait speed from pre- to post-test (p=.001) and pre-test to retention (p=.008). In comparison to the non-disabled group, forces produced by the stroke group were asymmetrical demonstrating compensatory adaptation. Although the participants with chronic stroke walked faster after body-weight supported treadmill training, the relative percentages of propulsion and positive work remained unchanged. These findings suggest that the increase in speed was likely due to strengthening existing compensatory strategies rather than through recovery of normal kinetic symmetry.

Materials and Methods: Forty subjects with coronary heart disease were included. They were divided into two groups as exercise and control groups. The exercise group underwent exercise based cardiac rehabilitation program. Hand grip strength and hand dexterity were assessed just before and 5 minutes after the exercise session. In the control group the grip strength and dexterity were assessed as baseline and after 35 minutes. Hand grip strength was measured by Jamar hand dynamometer. The Purdue Pegboard test was used for evaluating hand dexterity. Results: Grip strength of both hands increased significantly five minutes after aerobic training session when compared to pre-exercise values in the exercise group (p<0.05). There were significant differences in all stages of the Purdue pegboard test between pre and post-training (p<0.001) in the exercise group. The ...

Aside from recurrence, lymphedema is the most dreaded sequela of breast cancer treatment. In this review, we summarized pathophysiology, etiology and measurement techniques of postbreastsurgery lymphedema.

Chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery, lymphedema, and direct effects of cancer can cause problems in upper extremities and also in hands. It is important to identify cancer-related hand problems and to focus on these problems in cancer rehabilitation. In this chapter, upper extremity and hand involvements in cancers were mentioned.

Patients with PMS formed the PMS group and age-matched healthy normal controls were included in the control group. The diagnosis of the FMS and PMS were based on new American College of Rheumatology FMS criteria and DSM-IV PMS criteria. FMS-related symptoms assessed by visual analog scale and number of tender points (TePs) were analyzed. QOL, PMS severity and FMS severity were assessed with SF-36, fibromyalgia impact questionnaire (FIQ) and premenstrual assessment form (PAF), respectively. Patients with PMS were divided into two subgroups according to coexistence of FMS or not. The frequency of FMS in PMS and control group were 20 and 0%, respectively (p = 0.002). FMS-related symptoms, number of TePs in the PMS group were higher than those in the control group. The mean mental component summary (MCS) score of SF-36 was low in the PMS group. The mean PAF score in PMS with FMS subgroup was higher than those in without FMS subgroup. The mean physical component summary of SF-36 was low in the PMS patient with FMS. There was correlation between PAF score and FIQ score (r = 0.476, p < 0.001). FMS was common among the patients with PMS and frequently seen in the PMS patients having severe premenstrual complaints. Mental QOL was distressed in the patients with PMS but while FMS accompanied to PMS, the physical QOL was decreased.

Randomized selected 35 postmenopausal women (n = 35, mean age; 46.6 ± 2.8 years), 30 premenopausal controls (n = 30, mean age; 45.4 ± 2.7 years) were included in this study. The hand grip strength (JAMAR), the pinch strength and manual dexterity (Purdue peg-board test) were evaluated as hand functions by the same investigator. The DASH score (Disability of Arm, Shoulder and Hand) and the Beck Depression score were determined in each patient. The hand grip strength and manual dexterity were better in premenopausal women than postmenopausal ones. The lower level of estrogen was associated with decreased manual dexterity, increased disability and increased depression. There was no association between estrogen defiency and hand grip strength but we found a correlation between depression score and hand grip strength. Depression has been decreased hand grip/pinch strength and dexterity. We need prospective long term trials about the effect of estrogens on the hand functions and
