In a comprehensive international project on the use and protection of this transboundary aquifer, it is recommended to evaluate the potential uses and characteristics of its geothermal resources. Through the hot/mineral springs are developed resorts, water parks, SPAs, bath centers, and wellness destinations, with recognized economic benefits and inducers of sustainability. Thus, this work compiles physicochemical data (temperature, TDS, pH, SO4 -2, HCO3 -, Cl-, F-, Na+, Ca+2, Mg+2, Si, B-3, Fe, Li+, Mn+2, Zn+2) from 85 hydrothermal wellsprings located in GAS (Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay), where tourism activities related to balneology are observed. The values obtained are compared with minimum levels of beneficial bioactivities, literature referenced to balneotherapy. The results indicate potential biologically active components (BAC) present in most of the sites, fountains and thermal/mineral waters evaluated here, through baths to experiences of SPA, relaxation, skincare, well-being or thermal medicine, according to the forms and the continuity of the expositions. It is expected to contribute to regional tourism development and marketing, as well as the promotion of related biomedical research.

Noted it, through the current Brazilian policy demand: social thermalism/hydrotherapy/crenotherapy selected like complementary alternative medicine (CAM) by health ministry law MS 971/2006 (PNPIC), hydro-thermal therapy qualifying DNPM (MME Ordinance 127/2011 and MME 337/2002), health and wellness tourism formally oriented by tourism ministry and environmental management groundwater resources (Resolution MME / CONAMA 396/2008 and MME / CNRH 107/2010). Whereas as fresh potable reserves or potential mineral aquatic strategic deposits, the main biologically active components (BAC) were identified, with their minimum levels needed to related health benefits. Similar to conventional mining prospection, these “cut off grade” detection, at natural occurrences from Brazil, was the major goal in this work. The bibliographic systematic review allowed identify the main bioactive substances (BAC) related to springs sources of elements enougth or proven as health beneficial and at which indications. Wards after, it was performed a georeferenced database with these same variables (BAC) from Brazilian springs. Overlays all through thematic maps assisted in geographical and geological evaluations, whereas, at the end, statistical comparisons filtered target selection at all. The total 60 possible natural BAC and its minimum values for efficacy globally reviewed and established were detected at least one BAC occurrence from 703 mineral springs at 525 Brazilian cities. The arguments utilized were important in demonstrating the abundant and diverse existence of this endowment, where its potential health applications are virtually unknown today.

Being the knowledge of their physical attributes and dimensions important set to the medical geography, like monitoring and enforcing their positive or negative biological activities to the human health. The initial bibliographic meta-analysis indicate good correlation with the Hormesis Theory, where the Guarapari city epidemiological viewpoint has a population diseases incidences significantly below to the province (Espirito Santo State) and national (Brazil) average related to neoplasms (tumors at all ages), blood erythrocytes diseases, immune disorders, dermatitis, musculoskeletal and connective tissue problems (SIH/SUS, 2010). Another relevant observation is the recent similar finding by other countries studies with such endowment events, targeting therapeutic applications also called like complementary and alternative medicine – CAM (SPA therapy, psammotherapy, thalassotherapy, crenotherapy, hydrotherapy, naturopathy).

The medical geography or geology need to see its like a positive nature way process (Selinus, 2004; Finkelman, 2006; Gomes & Silva, 2006). This could be a key factor to the global healthcare, leisure and economy, being natural products a core elements or agents to the health resort therapy structure, complementary/alternative medicine (CAM), health natural tourism (SPA, thermalism, hot springs) facilities. After 5 years of surveys in each particular case, the results can thus be summarized (Figure 1) = 1.Águas de Lindoia/SP: oxygen radon springs at famous SPA waters tourism route; .2.Águas de São Pedro/SP: fossil hydrodiversity at basaltic cuesta tour with a health resort “grand hôtel”; 3.Caldas de Cipó/BA: radioactive manganese hight discharge hot springs at a historic dry tropical station near to the famous; 4.Guarapari/ES: monazite sand beach thalasso-tropical at unique Brazilian radium-climatic station; 5.Itaipulândia/PR: Guarani aquifer accompanied by the Iguaçu Cataratas falls and mist (World heritage park); 6.Peruíbe/SP: black mud coast SPA at Juréia natural conservation area acknowledged park.

The correlations of nature and tourism with health are usually positive (due to direct beneficial assistance or prevention of harm), but sometimes negative (environmental imbalances and human actions). Some current geographic approaches: cultural ecosystem (environmental) services, WellVillage, SPA town, healthy city, urban green/blue space (UGBS), natural outdoor environment (NOE) and health and well-being – PHENOTYPE project, biophilia architecture. Since prehistoric times, beneficial effects on human health have been recognized through nature, as well as people's movements in search of places with such special characteristics. Named healing/sacred places, they gave rise to pilgrimages and the first forms of tourist organizations. In recent surveys on visitors' preferences for wellness and health destinations, attractiveness related to nature, environment and potentially therapeutic resources is at the top of the list compared to other items considered (Finland, Italy, Romania, Hungary, Poland). For the current Health Tourism Destination Index (Lee & Li, 2019) with 3 dimensions and 11 sub-dimensions, the natural environment dimension and sub-dimensions climate, air, water, and light; are highlights. (IUCN, 2016) Resolution 64 - Strengthening cross-sector partnerships to recognise the contributions of nature to health, well-being and quality of life (Nature is good medicine). (NCCAM-NIH, 2012) List of Total 259 therapies included as complementary alternative medicine - CAM, observed 50% direct nature related and 70% possible nature related (+indirect). In addition to the various traditional medicines, naturopathy, natural medicines and nature-based interventions direct nature related observed. Thus, increasing knowledge about occurrences of NTF - local natural therapeutic factors and their potentially bioactive properties - BAC (preventive, restorative or medicinal), become strategic in planning, development and sustainability of activities in these segments; whether public or private (Lazzerini, 2019; Ziemska et al., 2019). Main characteristics to be evaluated: physical, chemical, biological, toxicological, pharmacological, nutritional, traditional knowledge, sensory, thermodynamic, nanomolecular, ecogeophysical, energetic, vibrational, … Through an online literature review for “natural therapeutic factor” and similar terms (135 articles related to health tourism were selected) and systematization based on the Natural kind classification philosophy (Cleland et al., 2020) the NTF are described in 4 types of greater scope (environments, phenomena, resources/materials and lives) and having more than 100 subdivisions. Details, presentation, indications, case studies and BACs; will be supplemented to interested participants. And at eBook in production.
