This paper covers the design, algorithm and simulation of an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) desig... more This paper covers the design, algorithm and simulation of an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) designed for Pakistani industries. The AGV is named as ‘Mover’ and it is designed to carry a load of 30Kg in shortest time possible. Two algorithms were studied and implemented to test its overall productivity. Shortest Job First (SJF) schedules maximum number of jobs in given shift time, based on production time of each job on each station. These scheduled jobs then transported to individual workstations using shortest path using A* routing algorithm. The simulation results state that the comparison between a Mover having capabilities of scheduling and shortest part following with manual labour display a difference of around 80% when it comes to efficiency in a production line. Furthermore, the results also that single AGV processed jobs with 95% efficiency while the two labour processed same jobs with 10.85% of efficiency rate

After the attack on World trade Center on 9th November 2001, Pentagon decided to launch fight against terrorism operations in Afghanistan. The operation started in Afghanistan in 2001 and then with the passage of time the scope of operation was increased to northwest part of Pakistan. Remarkable results have been achieved with this technology but there are also some disadvantages of this technology. The negative impact of using the drone technology is that civilians are also affected by the strikes. First drone attack happened in Waziristan in November 2004, which resulted in the killing of militant’s commander, and his companions with civilians were martyred. To minimize the deaths of such local innocent civilians different predictive systems for finding the location and time of next drone strike have been created by the researchers.In this research paper we have designed a predictive system using neural network that how many civilians will be affected by the next drone strike. This system has been designed on the basis of the available data about the drone strikes in Pakistan. Realistic results have been achieved and we are hopeful that this system can save some innocent lives.

Small UUVs have a wide variety of applications including inspection, specimen and salvage gatheri... more Small UUVs have a wide variety of applications including inspection, specimen and salvage gathering, instrument placement and exploration. However the use of these UUVs has been limited by the following two factors: Cost and underwater communication technology. Most of the UUV's that we could found in literature are expensive to build as well as maintain and this has kept the technology out of the average marine operator's hands. Moreover, since there has not been any significant revolution in underwater communication, most UUVs send up a tether for video transmission, control of the vehicle, and sometimes even power transmission. This paper describes the design and function of a small (less than 10kg) and inexpensive UUV that is remotely operated. The UUV can send back a live video feed and can be used for all kinds of underwater exploration including inspection of fouled propellers, discovery underwater and looking for lost salvage.

Robocop is a kind of a surveillance robot which has been designed to capture and monitor the environment by providing live video streaming which eliminates the need of a human after being thrown at a place and is able to cover rough terrains as well. It is robust enough to bear stresses while being thrown at a place and not break and will have the ability to stable itself when landed in wrong orientation. In areas where it is difficult for humans to go or where the life of humans can be in danger (like the places containing explosive things or harmful gases) Robocop can be used in such environments. The main controller of this robot is Raspberry Pi 3B+ which will be the brain of this robot. The whole system is programmed on Raspberry Pi which will communicate with the webpage controller and make the robot work. The orientation of the robot will be decided by the tilt switch used in the robot which will make the robot move in the correct direction based on the command sent to it. The communication medium used in this robot is Wi-Fi which will receive and send signals. The Ultrasonic sensors are used for obstacle avoidance when the robot will run on autonomous mode otherwise it can be controlled through the webpage. Through testing we found that Robocop is able to bear the pay load of about 12 KGs. Such surveillance robots has a wide range of applications and can be used in the field of army, human rescuing and for the civilian security as well.

Most of the renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, and ocean, are sustainable, i.e., we can utilize them to generate electricity without putting them into danger of getting vanished or depleted from the surface of Earth. Moreover, they are available in bulk quantity in every part of the world, unlike fossil fuel; of which reserves are not available everywhere. Sustainable energy can be defined as a form of energy that can be utilized again and again without putting a source in danger of getting depleted, expired, or vanished. The used and development of clean sustainable energy are widely encouraged as it do not harm our environment and is available all around us free of cost. All renewable sources like ocean, wind, and solar are sustainable energy sources due to the fact that they are stable and available worldwide. The Earth has been blessed with enormous amount of water in the form of oceans or seas. About 70% of Earth is covered with oceans, which is the reason that it seems to be blue from outer space and said to be as “Blue Planet.” Oceans and seas around us have the potential to fulfill all of our current energy demands by providing a clean energy in a bulk quantity; which can be harnessed in number of ways and forms: by exploiting the kinetic energy of waves, the streams of tides and ocean current, and by the temperature gradient present in water. This chapter discusses various methods and technologies introduced to harness this all important form of energy from ocean along with its significance, application, advantages, and disadvantages .

A lab-scale cold CFB test rig was built at the NFCIET Multan for understanding the fluidization behaviour. Influence of fluidizing air on the fluidization behavior was observed. It was found that voidage along the riser height is affected by riser geometry. The combustion behavior of low grade coals from Thar coal was also explored in a CFB Combustor. The influence of the fluidizing air on the combustion erformance was examined and their effect on emissions was established. The temperature in the riser of the CFB rose quickly to around 900°C. This rise in temperature has caused an increase in the amount of exhaust gasses which has their influence on the suspension density. From this study, a firsthand experience of combustion behavior of low grade Pakistani coals was documented.

Currently, the total amount of energy produced in Pakistan is about 19,500 MW through various resources such as hydel power, natural gas etc. The energy produces via hydel power is much less in comparison to production of energy through Furnace oil or Natural gas. Hydel power produces only 65,00 MW, while rest of 13,000 MW is produced either using Furnace oil or Natural Gas. Furthermore, nuclear and coal resources also contribute in energy production, but the yield is lower than the hydel power production, which is 450 MW and 150 MW respectively. The shortage of electricity reaches its peak i.e 6,000 MW in summer season and it is expected that this figure is expected to rise with time. Since Pakistan posses abundant wind resources for electricity generation, therefore it is essential to build indigenous low cost wind turbine to utilize these available resources efficiently and economically. This study specifically concerns with development of generator of horizontal axis of wind turbine. In this study, three-phase AC asynchronous induction motor has been converted into a wind turbine generator to produce a robust and economical design. For this purpose, a test rig, consisting of two induction motors, chain sprocket, motor coupling, capacitors, and load bank of 2.3 KWwere used. During experimental trials, high voltage oil based capacitors were used to magnetize the generator coil. As generator motor is rotated slightly above its rated rpm of 2800, capacitors starts magnetizing the coil, which in turns produce potential difference that reverses the motor behavior and it start working as a generator. During the laboratory trials, it has been shown that this approach presents a robust and economical solution for developing wind turbine generators, as these induction motors are easily available at considerably low prices in comparison to DC generators.
