Methods: This is a retrospective descriptive study, conducted at the Joliot Curie Institute of Aristide le Dantec hospital over a 30 months period from January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2022. Results: 231 ENT cancers were collected in our study, with a mean age of 51 years [11; 93]. Females predominated with a sex ratio of 0.88. Alcoholism was noted in 15.1% of cases. Smoking was noted in 23.8%. Alcohol smoking predominated in laryngeal cancer. The oral cavity was the most frequent site (44.6%). The histological nature of the cancers was dominated by squamous cell carcinoma (93.5%). Stages III and IV were in the majority: 62.8% and 23.8% of cases respectively. Neoadjuvant surgery was performed in 11.9% of cases. Chemotherapy was used in 65.1% of cases (including 90.2% for induction). Radiotherapy was used in ...

Patients and Methods: One hundred and sixty patients with histological confirmation of breast cancer, treated consecutively between June 2018 and December 2020, were retrospectively included. Predefined clinical data were extracted from medical records containing patient demographic information, medical history, diagnostic features, and different treatment types. Data were collected, entered and analyzed using SPSS version 23.0 software. Results: The median age of the participants was 48 years with extremes of 27 and 81 years. The average consultation time was 4 (± 2.6) months. Breast cancer was mainly discovered to clinical signs (91.3%). Screening mammography revealed only 5% of cases. The vast majority of patients had a tumor larger than 3 cm (78.2%). Molecular characterization by immunohistochemistry was studied in 87 patients (54.3%) with a predominance of the triple negativ...

Diagnosis is based essentially on histological and immunohistochemical studies. Standard treatment is surgery combined with radiotherapy if there is a prognostic factor for local recurrence. We report a case treated in our department. Observation: A 24-year-old female patient with no specific pathological history consulted the Joliot Curie Institute of the Dantec Hospital for a forehead nodule that appeared in 2012 and was painless, evolving towards February 2021 into two right temporo-maxillary masses progressively increasing in volume. Examination revealed two tumors of stony consistency, with smooth, ulcerated surface, infiltrated center, raised borders, budding, not bleeding on contact, painless, the largest measuring approximately 16cm, located at the temporofrontal and right parotid level with extension to the right auricle associated with homolateral periorbital edema and right retroauricular...

In 2018, Senegal experienced a transition from two-dimensional to three-dimensional radiotherapy (RC3D). We are evaluating for the first time the impact of this RC3D in the treatment of rectal cancer in Senegal. Objective: To describe the epidemiological, clinical and diagnostic profile of rectum cancer in Senegal, to list the different radiotherapy techniques used, to evaluate the response as well as the outcome of patients. Method: We conducted a retrospective descriptive study on preoperative radio-chemotherapy of rectal adenocarcinoma at the Dalal Jamm University Hospital in Dakar from July 2018 to June 2020. Results: The 42 patients included, including 18 men and 24 women (Sex Ratio: 0.75), had an average age of 55.9 years. We found a family history of CRC (Colorectal cancer) in 7 cases and smoking in 5 cases. The clinical signs were dominated by rectal bleeding, noted in 92.8% of cases, with or without ...

Of embryonic origin, craniopharyngiomas are considered to develop from epithelial remains of Rathke's pouch. It affects children as well as adults. All ages combined, craniopharyngiomas represent between 3 to 4% of intracranial tumors worldwide, or 0.5 to 2 new cases per year and per million inhabitants. In children, they represent 10% of all intracranial tumors with a peak frequency between 7 and 13 years and a predominance of men. Although benign, this tumor remains a serious pathology because of the frequent visual, endocrine, neuro-intellectual sequelae and the risk of recurrence that it entails, involving the visual and vital functional. The management of this pathology is multidisciplinary and involves several modalities such as surgery, radiotherapy and medical treatment of hormonal deficits very often associate...
