Perché un messaggio puramente acustico viene da noi definito come musica e, quando ci colpisce, e... more Perché un messaggio puramente acustico viene da noi definito come musica e, quando ci colpisce, emozione? E in che modo la psicologia cognitiva della musica può venire in aiuto al compositore che ha fatto della musica la sua arte comunicativa? Si è condotta una ricerca su varie pubblicazioni partendo dagli studi storici che hanno contribuito a creare quella che è la disciplina della Psicologia della Musica, passando attraverso l’evoluzione cognitivista più recente fino alle neuroscienze degli anni Duemila, cercando infine di fornire indicazioni e risposte alle domande poste in introduzione. Il primo capitolo fa capo ai pionieri analisti delle esperienze acustiche: sperimentatori del suono e studiosi della percezione musicale come von Helmholtz, Stumpf e von Ehrenfels. Successivamente vengono trattati i principali test di attitudine musicale, verificandone i limiti. Si giunge poi agli studi di Révész riguardanti l’altezza e la qualità tonale, per poi affrontare l’eterno dilemma della semantica musicale. Il primo capitolo si conclude con gli studi di Francès, fra i primi a dimostrare il perché sia necessario gerarchizzare strutturalmente la musica. Il secondo capitolo presenta i principali studi di Psicologia della Musica inerenti la corrente del cognitivismo, i quali si focalizzano sull’analisi del pensiero musicale, piuttosto che sul prodotto finito. Interessante in particolar modo lo studio che ipotizza cosa la memoria sceglierebbe di immagazzinare prendendo a riferimento un’organizzazione gerarchica musicale, sebbene il fulcro del secondo capitolo sia racchiuso nella presentazione del modello cognitivo dei processi compositivi proposto da Biasutti. Il terzo capitolo analizza la struttura del ‘cervello musicale’, evidenziandone la plasticità e le capacità. Inoltre si riportano studi che analizzano il ruolo dei geni nell’attitudine musicale, per concludere, infine, con le evidenze scientifiche delle emozioni che sono intrinseche a certe strutture musicali.
