Design/Methodology/Approach: The research was carried out with extension workers, who took part of the 2019 Rural Development Program (PDR) in Morelos, Mexico. An exploratory-descriptive methodology, with a non-probabilistic convenience test, was carried out. The tool comprised 25 items. Thirty-one extension workers and 6 technicians of various programs were interviewed. Results: Most of the extension workers were men, 86% of their professional profiles are related to agricultural sciences, 10% has a master degree, and 45% has some kind of proficiency certificate. The interviewees pointed out that they were not paid enough for their services, that each technician had to work with too many producers, and that a short-term contract is not enough to achieve the development processes. La Reserva de la Biosfera Sierra de Huautla es un reservorio de biodiversidad del trópico seco me... more La Reserva de la Biosfera Sierra de Huautla es un reservorio de biodiversidad del trópico seco mexicano. Las comunidades campesinas que la habitan históricamente han aprovechado los recursos naturales para su subsistencia, entre ellos la fauna silvestre. Con el objetivo de caracterizar las prácticas de cacería en la comunidad de Pitzotlán, Morelos, se aplicaron entrevistas a diez campesinos locales, así como observación participante, recorridos guiados y registro de la caza durante siete meses. Se registraron 37 especies de fauna con valor de uso, principalmente para alimento (57 %), disminuir daños agropecuarios (49 %) y en la medicina tradicional (27 %). De septiembre de 2018 a marzo de 2019 se contabilizó la captura de 70 individuos pertenecientes a 17 especies en 41 eventos de cacería. Se registraron 46 especies con valor de uso pertenecientes a 31 familias. La clase con mayor número de especies apropiadas son las aves (42.5%), seguidas de los mamíferos (34%). El 64% de las especies se apropian con fines alimentarios y el 38.3% se utilizan para el tratamiento de enfermedades en la medicina tradicional. Otros usos son adornos, amuletos, elaboración de herramientas y como animal de compañía. La apropiación de fauna silvestre se realiza por medio de la cacería, la recolección y la pesca. This knowledge is compound of the fact that are plants offered in rituals, which functionality is still present since they play an essential role in the social reproduction of communities as they are related to the agricultural cycle. Therefore, it is asked: Do the offerings concerning agricultural cycle allow the vegetal diversity conservation and the knowledge attached to it in the Nahuatl community of Coatetelco, Morelos? In order to answer this question, the components, species and the variety of the plants that are offered in the agricultural cycle rituals, were identified, as well as their production units. Las tortugas marinas pueden ser un nicho para organismos de menor tamaño denominados epibiontes o... more Las tortugas marinas pueden ser un nicho para organismos de menor tamaño denominados epibiontes o huéspedes que no causan ningún daño a sus hospederos. El objetivo de este estudio fue identificar las diatomeas que habitan sobre el caparazón de hembras de la tortuga Lepidochelys olivacea durante la temporada de desove 2015-2016 en Playa Ventura, Guerrero, México. Se muestrearon un total de 46 tortugas golfinas, registrándose 20 especies y 17 géneros de diatomeas. Los géneros con mayor número de especies fueron Gomphonema (tres especies) y Cocconeis (dos especies). Los resultados indican que la adquisición y proliferación de las diatomeas no están relacionadas directamente al comportamiento de las tortugas en general; sin embargo, la comunidad de tortugas que arriba a estas playas podría presentar hábitos similares que propicien el establecimiento de estas diatomeas.

Las instituciones han considerado este modelo como una alternativa de seguridad alimentaria, muestra de ello es la implementación del programa PESA en las comunidades marginadas. El objetivo de este trabajo fue determinar cómo perciben las beneficiarias la contribución del programa PESA en los aspectos económicos y sociales de la unidad familiar. La metodología es de tipo cualitativa a través del método fenomenológico, se encuestaron a 40 mujeres y 8 se entrevistaron de un total de 81, la muestra utilizada fue la bola de nieve. Resultando que 100% de las encuestadas comentaron que el programa mejoró sus ingresos; asimismo, dijeron que con este apoyo optimizaron el manejo de las aves, se beneficiaron en la alimentación y les generó una mayor estima.

Mediante técnicas etnozoológicas se registró el aprovechamiento de 6 órdenes, 11 familias y 20 especies, de las cuales el 55% de las especies tienen los siguientes valores de uso: alimentario (100%), medicinal (45%), animales de compañía (18%), ornamental (18%), amuleto (18%) y en la fabricación de herramientas (9%). Su explotación se lleva a cabo mediante la cacería de subsistencia, en este caso se utilizan armas de fuego (100%), perros (36%) y resorteras (18%). Se utilizaron tecnicas etnozoologicas, como observacion participante, encuestas estructuradas, entrevistas a profundidad y recorridos guiados. La caceria de mamiferos se lleva a cabo durante todo el ano por la manana o por la noche, individual o en grupo. Se identifican 34 especies distribuidas en siete ordenes, de ellas 17 especies presentan categoria de uso, de las que se utilizan la carne, piel, garras, patas y grasa. Las familias con mas especies en las categorias de uso son: Procyonidae, Mephitidae, Felidae y Sciuridae. Se reconocen siete categorias de uso: alimentaria (58.8%), artesanal (58.8%), medicinal (23.5%), adorno (17.6%), mascota (17.6%), mistico-religioso (11.7%) y abono (5.8%). The aim of this study is to analyze the cultural and economic importance of familial animal husba... more The aim of this study is to analyze the cultural and economic importance of familial animal husbandry as a rural production system in the families of the community of Juan Nepomuceno Álvarez. Fifty-three questionnaires were applied in family units. The system of production is traditional, with family labor involved, for personal consumption of meat and eggs (91%) and for commerce (9%). Familial animal husbandry is integrated by poultry (70%), pigs (15%), goats (10%) and a small percentage of cattle (5%). The registered uses were: food (80%), presents and gifts (15%), medicinal (5%) and a 100% recuperate the feces for its use as fertilizer. The management scheme preferred is the traditional pen (89%). Feeding includes broken corn, tortillas soaked in water, vegetable scrapes and termites. Frequent illnesses are smallpox and diarrheas, which are treated with home remedies. The traditional knowledge for its management are transmitted by women.
