Methods: A total of 42 maxillary molars were prepared to receive CAD/CAM fabricated lithium disilicate occlusal veneer either with 0.5 mm (n=21) or 1 mm (n=21) thickness. Each main group was divided into 3 subgroups (n=7), according to surface treatment, HF acid (HF-1, HF-0.5), acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF-1, APF-0.5) and Monobond etch & prime (MON-1, MON-0.5). Multilinik N (Ivoclar-Vivadent) adhesive resin cement was used for bonding according to the manufacturer instructions. One hour after bonding, specimens were stored in water bath for 75 days followed by cyclic loading fatigue for 240000 cycles to simulate clinical situation. Finally, specimens were fractured under compressive load in (N) using a universal testing machine. Two and one-way ...

First phase fathoms unapplied/inappropriate welding processes based on a set of exclusion criteria. Second phase decides the best welding process amongst those remaining according to a set of selection criteria. The second phase is an integration of two methods, FUZZY-AHP which weights the selection criteria with the goal, and FUZZYTOPSIS which ranks such criteria and gets most suitable welding process. The proposed framework covers a wider range of practical welding criteria with more flexibility and amenability; thus, making it possible to be simply applied in the complex industrial problem.

In addition, it introduces guidelines to serve constructing future expert systems for the problem. Therefore, it presents an extensive literature review on the approaches used to model and solve the problem over 36 years. Hence, several findings and proposed insights are reported. The paper recommends some existing approaches based on their performance in general and literature reporting in addition to simple statistics. A structure for prospected expert systems is proposed. The paper collected and rearranged decision criteria/sub-criteria of the problem, in a manageable form, to construct a modifiable hierarchical scheme. Additional criteria were merged based on recent trends in manufacturing system evaluation such as sustainability and performability. Finally, an agenda is introduced to recognize research opportunities in this...

This system is incorporated into a three-phase framework which can be applied to solve the problem of welding process selection at academic and industrial levels. This system integrates the Fuzzy–AHP–TOPSIS system with the quality tool QFD to enable incorporating additional factors and factors’ interdependency into the problem model without complicating the solution procedure. This integration can reduce uncertainty of group decision-making and accommodate a large number of factors; and in turn, precise solutions can be obtained. Thus, the customer requirements can be considered beside the technical process criteria in industrial problems. The framework is automated as an implementation software, which is then demonstrated with an industrial welding case of nine welding processes and fourteen factors. In addition, a parametric study is conducted to analyze the sensitivity of the framework to potential changes in customer requirements. The application has shown that the experts’ opinions have significant effect on the solution precision, which can be controlled over the three phases of the proposed framework.

The critical fundamentals and inconveniences are pinpointed. It reports that exploiting the current augmenting technology of condition monitoring and fault detection & diagnosis certainly simplifies the system data collection and in turn enables designing robust charts for reliability. Hence, two essential propositions are presented to facilitate further applications.
