Jasna Koteska
Jasna Koteska (1970, Skopje) is a Macedonian theoretician, writer, and university professor.
She is recipient of the 2017 state award "Goce Delcev" for the science book of the year for her book "Kirkegaard on Consumerism" (Toronto and Ljubljana, 2016).
Her book "Communist Intimacy" (Washington, 2014) made it on to the European Society of Authors' Finnegan's List of 30 books for 2015.
She is author of 11 books, most recently of "Kierkegaard on Consumerism"(Trinity College, Toronto and CERI, Ljubljana, September, 2016), and "The Freud Reader" (Skopje, 2013).
Koteska holds MA in Gender Studies (2000) from the Central European University, Budapest, MPhil in Literature (1999), and PhD in Literature and Gender Studies (2002) from the University Ss. Cyril and Methodius, Skopje.
Koteska started her academic career as Assistant Teacher (1995-1999), and Senior Assistant Teacher (1999-2002) at the Faculty of Philology, the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Skopje; and later as an Assistant Professor/Docent (2002-2007); Associate Professor (2007-2012), and since March 2012 she is a Full Time Full Professor at the same Faculty. From September 2016-July 2017 she was a Head of the Department of Macedonian Literature and South Slavic Literatures.
She teaches courses on the 19th century Slovenian literature, Methodology of Teaching Literature, Postmodern Literature and Film, Macedonian Women's Literature, as well as more specialized graduate offerings on Jacques Lacan, and on the concept of abjection.
Koteska published eleven books (five in Macedonian), and over two hundred articles in academic journal in Macedonia and abroad. Her text have been translated into English, Slovenian, Bulgarian, Serbian, German, Slovakian, Hungarian, Albanian, Turkish, Greek and Romanian.
Koteska works focuses on the 19th century philosophy and literature (mainly Freud, Kierkegaard and Kafka), early psychoanalysis, feminism, communism, and postmodernism.
She works with the variety of topics, including intimacy, sanitation, trauma, abject, repetition, the screen memories concept, miniaturization, and gestures. She writes columns in political magazines Dnevnik, Globus, Forum, and most recently for the Macedonian edition of Deutsche Welle.
She is a member of the Independent Writers' Association of Macedonia, the Philosophical Society of Macedonia, the Central European Research Institute Soren Kierkegaard in Ljubljana, and of several international academic boards.
She works as external consultant on Projects of Good Practices in Gender Equality for the European Union, Department of Justice.
Since September 2016, together with Dr. Primoz Repar she is editor for specialized books on the Danish philosopher Soren Kierkegaard for the edition Kierkegaard Circle/Collection Aut at Trinity College, Toronto and CERI-SK, Ljubljana.

Her second book length research project is titled: The Freud Reader 2. 1900-1901.
