There are lots of myths and misunderstandings due to the man simplifications of the subject. This paper introduces the subject again with a broader look and is introdction to an entire research performed for the sake of To Arms! exhibition in Jagiellonian University along with its catalogue published in 2018.

Polish winged hussars were often an icon of the Polish pop culture, being one of the best cavalry formations of its time. Though their main weapon was lance, they are mostly connected to a very specific design of saber that was used in the end of XVIIth century.
Even though it has a lot of martial pride, there is little material about the way it was used. To find out many possibilities author dwells into many sources trying to reconstruct the way it was used once.
