This qualitative study utilized the narrative approach to determine the advantages and disadvanta... more This qualitative study utilized the narrative approach to determine the advantages and disadvantages of printed modular distance learning in terms of lesson preparation and assessment of students’ outputs based on the experiences of six teachers in a public elementary school in Negros Occidental in the School Year 2021-2022, the strategies they employed in lesson preparation and assessment of students’ outputs, and the insights they gained into their strategies when they engaged in printed modular distance learning modality. The findings reveal the following: (a) Modules are readily available for the only advantage of the printed modular distance learning in terms of lesson preparation; (b) Students’ outputs are well-thought-out for the only advantage of the printed modular distance learning in terms of assessment of students’ outputs; (c) Lessons are inappropriate and lesson preparation is delayed for the disadvantages of printed modular distance learning in terms of lesson prepara...

This study utilized the descriptive research design to determine the reading difficulties of one ... more This study utilized the descriptive research design to determine the reading difficulties of one hundred Grade 10 students who scored the least in the reading inventory in a public high school in Negros Occidental in the School Year 2021-2022 in terms of vocabulary and reading comprehension. Furthermore, their reading strategies were investigated. To solicit suggestions for building better reading skills, fifty of the selected respondents were interviewed through convenience sampling. The results reveal the following: (a) The students had difficulty understanding specialized words; (b) The students had difficulty answering critical questions; (c) The students used their background knowledge as their reading strategy; and (d) The students suggested that tutorials and spelling tests be conducted for their reading skills to improve. Narrative research design was employed, and thematic analysis was used to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns of meaning within the data provided by the participants who composed the entire population. The findings reveal the following themes that were gleaned from the participants’ responses. The Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) underscored that an educational institution is assessed according to the degree how its VMGOs are achieved, but not in comparison with others. This descriptive research utilized the survey method to determine the levels of awareness and acceptability of the Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives of Carlos Hilado Memorial State College in the Academic Year 2021-2022 among the stakeholders. 385 students, administrators, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni, who were selected using the random sampling technique answered the researcher-made instrument. For analysis, data were summarized primarily using mean and standard deviation. A state university in the Philippines participated in the resumption of limited face-to-face clas... more A state university in the Philippines participated in the resumption of limited face-to-face classes after two years of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, thereby allowing for online learning. This study assessed the online self-regulated learning strategies of college students using descriptive-correlational research design. Mean, standard deviation, Mann-Whitney U-test, and Kruskal-Walli’s test were used for analyzing data gathered from one hundred sixty-three students. Results show that students had a high level of online self-regulated learning strategies when they were taken as a whole and grouped according to sex and year level, excluding the second-year students whose level was average. Moreover, significant differences did not exist in their online self- regulated learning strategies when grouped according to year level, but a significant difference did in environment structuring when they were grouped according to sex.
