Traditional polygonal approximation algorithms handle only images that are related by a similarity transformation. The transformation of a planar shape as the viewpoint changes with a perspective camera is a general projective one. In this paper, we present a novel method for polygonal approximation of closed curves that is invariant to projective transformation. The polygons generated by our algorithm from two images, related by a ...

Intravitreal antivascular endothelial growth factor was injected during primary vitrectomy for retinal detachment. At final follow-up, the retina was attached with scarring of choroidal neovascularization. Ours is the first report of the use of intravitreal antivascular endothelial growth factor during vitrectomy for retinal detachment.

The aim of this study was to study the variation in foveal bulge with age. It was an observational cross-sectional study conducted between October 2014 and December 2015. Totally, 101 eyes of 101 healthy volunteers were studied in a tertiary care center. All individuals had best corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better. High myopia (>6 D), high hyperopia (>4 D), unstable fixation, media opacities and retinal disorder like diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion were the exclusion criteria. Spectral domain optical coherence tomography was used to identify foveal bulge. The height of foveal bulge was measured as the distance between inner border of retinal pigment epithelium and outer border of inner segment - outer segment line (ellipsoid zone) at fovea. Main outcome measures were a correlation between the height of the foveal bulge and age of the participants. Foveal bulge was present ...

This study is a retrospective, noncomparative case series. This study presents a retrospective analysis of records of patients with EE in a 10-year period. A total of 61 eyes of 58 patients were included in the study. Preceding systemic illness or surgery was noted in 31 patients (53.4%). No predisposing condition was found in 27 patients (46.5%). All eyes had severe diffuse EE. Culture positivity was seen in 34 of 58 patients (58.6%). Gram-positive organisms were isolated in 9 cases (15.5%), and Gram-negative organisms were isolated in 20 cases (34.5%). Pseudomonas aeruginosa (13.8%) was the most common isolate. Eleven eyes (18%) were managed medically with intravenous and intravitreal antibiotics, and 38 eyes (62.3%) also underwent vitrectomy. Eight eyes (13.1%) requir...

The disease has been related to a persistent and aberrant measles virus infection and no effective treatment has been available. We report a case of SSPE with atypical features including seizures at onset and a fulminant course in a 8 years-old boy who had been previously immunized against measles.
