To design concrete using two methods, including the Abrams law and the modified Bolomey method. Concrete with assumed compressive strength 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 MPa was researched. The research was conducted in the laboratory using two types of samples: cubic 15x15x15cm for compressive strength tests and cylinders ϕ-15cm, h-30cm for the splitting strength tests using the Brazilian method. The analysis of the cement content in the composition of 1m3 of the mixture showed very large differences depending on the calculation method used. The cement content calculated according to the Abrams method ranged from 180 kg/m3 (25MPa) to 497 kg/m3 (45MPa) depending on the class and determined according to the Bolomey method from 286 kg/m3 (25MPa) to 983 kg/m3 (45MPa). Significant differences were shown in the concrete strength test. The obtained test results can be the basis for future modifications of the concrete design methods, taking into acco...

The main objective was to investigate the effects of recycled waste aggregate modified with polymer fibers on the compressive and flexural strength, modulus of elasticity and permeability of pervious concrete. Fibers with a multifilament structure and length of 54 mm were deliberately used to strengthen the joints among grains (max size 31.5 mm). Eight batches of designed mixes were used in the production of pervious concrete at fixed water/binder ratio of 0.34 with cement content of 350 kg/m3. Results showed that the use of recycled concrete aggregate (8/31.5 mm) with replacement ratio of 50% (by weight of aggregate) improved the mechanical properties of pervious concrete in all analyzed cases. Whereas the replacement of 10% rubber waste aggregate (2/5 mm) by volume of aggregate reduced the compressive s...

The development of appropriate maturity curve is a complex process. It is important to correctly determine the datum temperature and activation energy, which can be obtained in mortar tests. This paper describes an investigation of the accuracy of the maturity method to estimate the strength when different way to rate constant and maturity function are analysed. High performance concrete used for construction of extradosed bridge was tested. The developed curve was implemented to predict the concrete strength at three construction stages, in summer, autumn and early spring.

Badania zostaly przeprowadzone w Laboratorium Katedry Konstrukcji Betonowych i Technologii Betonu Politechniki Gdanskiej.

The GEGA aggregates used in the experiments were made of confused glass waste. In order to achieve satisfactory strength of concrete Granulated Ash Aggregate (GAA) was added as well. To produce specimens three grain sizes of aggregates was used: 2 mm – GEGA, 4 mm – GEGA and 8 mm GAA. The influence was assessed of percentage participation of each aggregate in whole composite (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) on the properties of lightweight concrete mix, on mechanical properties of lightweight concrete and its practical usage in thin shells. The series of 15 concrete mixes were prepared for various aggregate contents and for constant water-cement ratio (w/c=0.5).

Przedstawione są takze informacje o urządzeniach stosowanych in situ do oceny wczesnej wytrzymalości betonu. Praca poświecona jest implementacji monitoringu dojrzewania betonu wysokowartościowego (C 60/75) wbudowanego w przeslo mostu extradosed z zastosowaniem metody dojrzalości. Publikacja ta powstala po zakonczeniu wszystkich etapow badan na obiekcie, zatem wypracowane rezultaty uwzgledniają wyniki badan laboratoryjnych, polowych i numerycznych. Badany obiekt to najwiekszy most typu extradosed w Europie pod wzgledem rozpietości przesla.
