Seventy four Reference Sites of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing ... more Seventy four Reference Sites of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA) have been recognised by the European Commission in 2016 for their commitment to excellence in investing and scaling up innovative solutions for active and healthy ageing. The Reference Site Collaborative Network (RSCN) brings together the EIP on AHA Reference Sites awarded by the European Commission, and Candidate Reference Sites into a single forum. The overarching goals are to promote cooperation, share and transfer good practice and solutions in the development and scaling up of health and care strategies, policies and service delivery models, while at the same time supporting the action groups in their work. The RSCN aspires to be recognized by the EU Commission as the principal forum and authority representing all EIP on AHA Reference Sites. The RSCN will contribute to achieve the goals of the EIP on AHA by improving health and care outcomes for citizens across Europe, ...

While F(E)NO has been suggested as a readily determined biomarker that can aid in the diagnosis and management of asthma, its potential role in pathophysiology of non-pulmonary diseases is less clear and therefore remains to be established. The purpose of the present review is to highlight the current literature investigating the use of F(E)NO in the diagnosis and management of non-pulmonary diseases.

Allergists and other healthcare providers (HCPs) in the field of allergies and associated airway diseases are on the front line, taking care of patients potentially infected with SARS‐CoV‐2. Hence, strategies and practices to minimize risks of infection for both HCPs and treated patients have to be developed and followed by allergy clinics.MethodThe scientific information on COVID‐19 was analysed by a literature search in MEDLINE, PubMed, the National and International Guidelines from the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), the Cochrane Library, and the internet.ResultsBased on the diagnostic and treatment standards developed by EAACI, on international information regarding COVID‐19, on guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international organizations, and on prev...

MASK digital anamorphosis represents the process used by MASK to develop the digital transformation of health and care in rhinitis. It strengthens the ARIA change management strategy in the prevention and management of airway disease. The MASK strategy is based on validated digital tools. Using the MASK digital tool and the CARAT online enhanced clinical framework, solutions for practical steps of digital enhancement of care are proposed.

Using forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1) as a surrogate of airway remodeling, we aimed to investigate if an omalizumab add-on in severe allergic asthma may lead to a persistent reversal of airway obstruction and to evaluate the potential biomarkers of airway obstruction reversibility. Methods:Data were collected before (T0) and after omalizumab add-on for 1 year (T1, 32 patients), 2 years (T2, 26 patients) and 4 years (T4, 13 patients). All patients had baseline FEV1below 80 % predicted (60.5 ± 12.5 %). After omalizumab, 18 patients showed FEV1normalization (reversible airway obstruction; RAO+) already at T1 (88.7 ± 14.9 %, p < 0.0001) that persisted up to T4 (83.2 ± 7.9, p < 0.01), while 14 patients (RAO−) had FEV1persistently decreased, from T1 (65.2 ± 8.4%, p < 0.05) up to T4 (61.4 ± 6.2%, not significant). Both groups had significant improvement of symptoms and exacerbations after omalizumab ...

Çorum is one of the leading five cities in Turkey in which CCHF disease is seen most. We studied characteristics of the patients with tick bites in our emergency department (ED) and determined the fatality rate of the disease in city of Çorum for the first time. We retrospectively analysed the characteristics of the patients admitted to our ED from the medical files of 21,680 patients in a 5-year period. The number of patients with definite diagnosis and who have died was determined. Our results demonstrated that the fatality rate of CCHF in Çorum is 6.78%. Among 21,680 patients, blood samples of 970 patients were sent to an advanced centre in Ankara for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing. Results of 560 patients were reported to be PCR (+) and 38 of them have died.

Abnormalities of lung function tests are reported in a high proportion of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We investigated whether NO output in exhaled air might be increased in patients with SLE and whether it is related to disease activity and to respiratory function abnormalities. METHODS Lung volume, maximal expiratory flow at 50 and 25% of vital capacity (MEF50 and MEF25), diffusion coefficient for carbon monoxide (KCO), and NO in the exhaled air were measured in 27 outpatients with SLE (23 women, age 39.2 +/- 16.3). NO in exhaled air was also measured in 30 healthy control subjects. Disease activity was assessed by the European Consensus Lupus Activity Measurement (ECLAM) scoring system. RESULTS Mean values of peak concentrations of NO exhaled air were 64.8 +/- 27.9 parts per billion (ppb) in patients and 31.6 +/- 7.7 ppb i...
