INTRODUÇÃO: A Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) é um importante aliado do paciente crít... more INTRODUÇÃO: A Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) é um importante aliado do paciente crítico, favorecendo contrações ativas mesmo em estado que requer imobilidade.OBJETIVO: Verificar a segurança da aplicação da NMES em Unidades de Terapia Intensiva (UTIs) de um hospital público da cidade de Salvador. MÉTODO: Trata-se de estudo piloto, de intervenção. Os dados foram coletados no período de fevereiro a junho de 2018, com amostra por conveniência em uma população de pacientes críticos intubados e em uso de vasopressores. Foi aplicada uma única sessão de 45 minutos de NMES em ambos os quadríceps (músculo reto femoral e vasto lateral), sendo coletados os seguintes dados hemodinâmicos 5 minutos antes da aplicação e logo após a terapêutica: frequência cardíaca, pressão arterial sistólica, diastólica e média; e frequência respiratória. INTRODUÇÃO: As complicações adquiridas em UTIs podem afetar negativamente a funcionalidade, mobil... more INTRODUÇÃO: As complicações adquiridas em UTIs podem afetar negativamente a funcionalidade, mobilidade e função pulmonar, levando a um prognóstico menos favorável. OBJETIVO: Correlacionar funcionalidade com função pulmonar na admissão e alta de pacientes internados em UTIs adulto. MÉTODOS: Trata-se de um estudo observacional, descritivo e transversal, com abordagem quantitativa. Os dados sociodemográficos foram obtidos nos prontuários; a funcionalidade e mobilidade foram medidas pela FSS-ICU e IMS, respectivamente; e a função pulmonar, representada pela medida da CVL. A análise dos dados foi realizada no programa BioEstat 5.3, com o teste de Shapiro-Wilk para avaliar a distribuição dos dados, e como a mesma não foi normal, utilizamos o teste de Wilcoxon de amostras relacionadas. Descrição do caso: Paciente previamente hígido e independente, admitido na UTI com diagnóstico de Síndrome de Guillain-Barré. Durante a internação apresentou pneumonia associada à VM e foi submetido à traqueostomia precoce. Inicialmente, a força muscular inspiratória foi de -70cmH2O, porém, apresentou piora progressiva do quadro com deterioração da força desses músculos, cujo valor baixou para -30cmH2O em uma semana.
