procedendo à realização de inquéritos, cujo resultado me permitiu concluir as potencialidades e
This present report is the culmination of the curricular internship held at the Major Seminary
of Coimbra, within the scope of the Master's Degree in Cultural Heritage and Museology in
Management and Programming, at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra.
Founded in 1765, on the initiative of Bishop Miguel of the Annunciation, the Coimbra Major
Seminary was not limited to the application of the Tridentine decrees concerning the creation of
seminaries, also reflecting, from the point of view of artistic policy, an important expression of the
baroque in Coimbra. Nicola Giliberti and Miguel da Anunciação used all the methods at their
disposal, not only to hire the best architects, but also to buy the best materials. A major example of
this policy is the Church of the Holy Family: commissioned in various parts of Italy and set up in
Coimbra, it is an example of the application of the baroque principles directed to the senses in order
to convince, move and delight.
The main objective of this work is to record the activities carried out over five months, as
well as a study about the history of the host institution, one will look at what concept of religious
heritage and what measures to adopt safeguarding and valuing assets. To this extent, we developed
a temporary exhibition with previously unseen pieces, as well as a study of audiences, conducting
surveys, the result of which allowed me to conclude the potentialities and fragilities of the Seminar
as a cultural product through the visitor's perspective.
