(Pori.) Syn: Naravelia zeylanica L. Corallocarpus epigaeus (Rottl.) Ex Willd. and Plectranthus caninus L. are used as important source of medicine for village people near the Sanamavu Forest area, Krishnagiri District. The concentration of five heavy metals Cadmium (Cd), Lead (Pb), Arsenic (As), Mercury (Hg) and Thalium (TI) are investigated using Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS). Heavy metal analysis shows that the high amount of lead (Pb) 2.36 mg/kg is identified in Plactranthus caninus L. and 1.80 mg/kg is in Clematis zeylanica L. (Pori.) The high amount of Cadmium (Cd) 0.143 mg /kg is identified in Plactranthus caninus L. and 0.097 mg/ kg in Corallocarpus epigaeus (Rottl.) Ex Willd. and the high amount of Arsenic (Ar) 0.11 mg/kg found in Plactranthus caninus L. and 0.039 mg/kg in Biden pilosa L. The high amount of Copper (Cu) 19.01mg/kg found in Clematiszeylanica L....

The phytochemical screening and composition were determined using gas chromatography. Thirty albino rats weighing between 170 and 200 g were used, were separated into 5 groups. Group one was administered distilled water, 2 was administered 1000 mg/kg AC only, 3, 4 and 5 were administered 1000 mg/kg acetaminophen + 200 mg/kg extract, 1000 mg/kg acetaminophen + 400 mg/kg extract, 1000 mg/kg AC + 100 mg/kg Silymarin. Phytochemical composition of root of the plant showed saponin (55.7079 µg/g) lunamarine (34.3976 µg/g), kaempferol (32.7107 µg/g), rutin (20.7399 µg/g), sapogenin (11.2644 µg/g), phenol (4.1557 µg/g), anthocyanin (1.1946 µg/g), epicatechin (0.8303 µg/g) and catechin (0.1883 µg/g). The plasma ALP, AST, ALT and GGT activities of the negative control were 151.50±14.11 U/L, 48.00±7.19 U/L, 79.50 ...
The antioxidant potential of different fractions of ethanol extracts of seeds of Bixa orellana L.... more The antioxidant potential of different fractions of ethanol extracts of seeds of Bixa orellana L. (Bixaceae) and ethanolic extracts of leaves of Lawsonia inermis L. were investigated via 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity using ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) as a standard reference. The free radical scavenging activity of annatto extract ranged from 14.40% to 77.95% in Bixa orellana and 16.50% to 71.8 % in Lawsonia inermis relative to ascorbic acid (15% to 86%) at respective concentration between 10µm/ml and 50µm/ml. phytochemical analysis shows the presence of secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, saponin, tannin, terpenoids and phenolic groups. Hence, both the samples have potential source of new natural antioxidant. Another aim of this study is that the people to get the natural dyes instead of synthetic dye. Natural dyes are not only eco-friendly but also protect human skin. These two samples have both dyeing property and medicinal properties.
