He has served two terms as editor, from 1999 to 003 and from 2010 to 2016, and we are grateful for all the wisdom, insight and efficiency that he brought to the role. We are pleased that e has agreed to continue his support for the JHE as an Associate Editor. Happily, Professor Kitt Carpenter has agreed to join the editorial board, having served as an Associate Editor since 2015. Kitt has been a ong-standing supporter of the JHE, and for many years he has been among our most prolific providers of referee reports. This is testament o both his commitment to the journal and to the alignment of his research interests with that of the JHE. It is a pleasure to welcome him o the editorial board.
This article provides an introduction to the application of duration models in applied health eco... more This article provides an introduction to the application of duration models in applied health economics. It starts by presenting nonparametric methods for a descriptive analysis of micro-data. Next, more parametric models are presented that study the importance of both observed and unobserved determinants. Finally, the article discusses some extensions, such as multiple spells, competing risks, and dynamic treatment evaluation. Throughout the article, STATA commands for applying empirical analyses have been provided when possible.
